JUNE 2024 THE RIDER /19 Trailer Talk With Ryan Kent, owner, RMK Trailer Sales
Trailer Talk By Ryan Kent In our business we fre-
quently get asked about
trailer maintenance. This in- cludes brakes, tires, bear- ings etc. Customers really want to know what they can
do to keep the trailer in proper working order and safe.
Some topics are often
overlooked and not consid- ered maintenance. One of them is cleanliness. Now it may seem a little vain to some to hear that having a clean trailer is important, however it really is for two reasons. Number one is ap- pearance. When a truck and trailer look neat and tidy going down the road, the OPP and MTO enforcement units recognize that, and are less likely to bother check- ing out your rig. A well-
maintained trailer goes a long way in avoiding a has- sle.
The other reason is
protection. You spend a lot of money investing in a trailer. A small pressure washer and a scrub brush can keep the horse area spic and span. This is done to my trailers after every show. Also using good quality soap and an RV brush on the outside will keep the trailer shining. Don’t be afraid to have your trailer detailed and waxed or coated by a professional once a year ei- ther. This will help with UV

President’s Message
Hi Everyone! The first OPHC show
of the 2024 season is in the books! It was a fantastic weekend of fun, friendship and horses! There were many new faces at the show this year and I'd like to thank all of you for choos- ing to spend your weekend
with us. We are looking for- ward to seeing you again! We also had some ex-
hibitors who had taken a hiatus from the shows join us. Welcome back! We are happy to have you! The chili cook off was
a resounding success with 12 entries! Thank you to everyone who donated chili
and to all of you dedicated tasters. Congratulations to the winners! We raised over $200 for our youth and am- ateurs at this event! I'm looking forward to
our June show. On Saturday evening, we'll have a walk- ing taco dinner (they're yummy!) and our E.S. Fox Construction

rays, road grime, winter weather, and just adds an- other layer of protection. If you want your trailer to last 30 years, you can do that by maintaining its cleanliness. There’s no excuse such as no time, because a two- horse trailer can be washed inside and out in about 20 minutes after a trip. So, hook up and enjoy
what the summer has to offer during this show sea- son, and be sure to keep the
soap and water handy. “Make sure you have a clean rig. That way you
leave home like a winner” Bob Avila
