ORHA Sponsor Spotlight: Team Richards Th ORHA appreciates all our spon-
sors, and we feel it’s important to share their contributions with the equine com- munity. This month, we are featuring ORHA sponsor Jason Richards NRHA professional and NRHA judge. Team Richards offers a complete training, con- signment, coaching and lesson program. Jason has coached and trained multiple Non-Pro World Champions. What sepa- rates Jason from other trainers is a unique style of communication and mo- tivation. His philosophy has always been and continues to be the welfare and
care of both horse and rider, emphasiz- ing the importance of thoughtful horse- manship.
Background In 2009, John and Sharon Fletcher
hired Jason to be their head trainer. This partnership led to Jason’s involvement in ORHA. The ORHA has provided Team Richards with the opportu- nity to showcase my horses and clients. It has been unbelievable, filled with many wonderful memories and learning op- portunities. I’ve really en- joyed participating in the clinics, shows and year end banquet. My business would be incomplete with- out ORHA. I look forward to my involvement with ORHA because It adds a sense of family and value
Jason started his training career 33
years ago in Santa Rosa, California. As the founder of Team Richards, he has amassed many career achievements, in- cluding two-time NRHA Futurity Final- ist, two-time NRHA Derby Finalist, NRBC TOP 10, three-time AQHA Final- ist, Congress Champion and open level 4 finals NRCHA Open Hackamore fi- nals. He has over $300,000 in lifetime earnings combined.
From Sunny California to Chilly (but, “warm”) Ontario
to the industry. It has been an invaluable part of my business, and I look forward to continuing with my team to support this amazing club. All the smiling faces and achievements give me great satis- faction. I want to thank the Board of Di- rectors for allowing me to be a part of such an amazing organization.
Impact of the ORHA The impact of the ORHA HAS
BEEN ENORMOUS ON MY BUSI- NESS AND ON MY TEAM. As a trainer, you always want for your clien-
tele to have a positive and pleasant experience. Every show we go to provides that and more. An easy thing to see is the financial gain, but there’s so much more to it than just money, there is the cama- raderie, the fellowship, the horsemanship, the great facili- ties, wonderful prizes, and memories. The environment at the shows is so warm and wel- coming. It adds to a very posi- tive experience for my team and myself. I can’t even begin to try to measure the impact it has had on me personally. I look forward to every event every banquet every clinic, every fundraiser, every break- fast and dinner that the ORHA has provided.
I hope that everyone in
Ontario horse community and family will follow me in sup- porting the ORHA both finan- cially
and with their
participation. I see a great deal of growth in the ORHA youth program, and I personally love their creativity and hustle. Those kids are some go-getters and a lot of that is attributed to their leader Rebecca Nelles. I’m always impressed by the
awards and prizes given to the Ex- hibitors. I enjoyed being a part of all the unique and thoughtful prizes. Winning the Futurity multiple times has been amazing and very memorable. Winning it in 2024 was so much fun, I can’t even tell you how much that meant to me. However, watching and helping my cus- tomers achieve their goals is definitely why I love the ORHA so much. My time with the ORHA has been an incredible journey, and one that I’m proud to have been a part of. I am looking forward many more memories in the coming years.
Support for the ORHA Sponsorship is a vital part of keep-
ing any organization running. It is with great pride and humility that I have been able to do a small part. I encourage everyone to help in any way they can whether through volunteer or financial or participation. It all helps, and that is what a team is all about, teamwork makes the dream work!
