July 23 was our biggest show ever, I think, with 86 entries in our 13 classes! There were several new faces and of course our regular hard riding crew of exhibitors. It was great to see 4 youth riders out to this show. Good work to all of them, you made it into the show pen and that is a great beginning. Our Herd Work class is getting bigger and better every time. Please remember any new- comers, you are only allowed to go in one division according to your status. The one thing that our association abies by since our beginning is that we go on

the honour system, so please keep that in mind.

Ontario Trail Rider Association Submission for ‘The Rider’ – August 2023 Issue

WE DID IT AGAIN! The August

long weekend presented us with fabu- lous weather in the Dufferin County Forest Main Tract, lush green grass in the camping area keeping the horses happy, dust-free trails due to some good rain prior to the ride, and beautiful sunshine during the days, with cool nights for sleeping. Thank you all who made this an- other OTRA success – what a great group of riders and horses! Not to forget, we had a delicious potluck, cele- brated a birthday (to MANY MORE, Liz!!!), then finished Saturday night with a cozy bonfire (thank you ‘fire-mas- ter’ Tammy!). Wrapping up Sunday with one more per- fect ride in the morning, then getting ready to head home in the afternoon to avoid the holiday Monday traffic as well as that rain that was forecasted our way. OTRA will be looking forward to its last scheduled ride on Sept 1- 4 (Labour Day), again at the Main Tract. Come out and

join us to wrap up the season, either for the whole weekend, or any of the days only. If you are not a member yet, just send in the application form along with your payment, or fill out the jotform di- rectly on our website under www.otra- trailriders.ca/members and register

electronically.Payment via e-transfers will need to be send directly to otratrea- surer@gmail.com . Hope to see you out there!

Happy Trails! Submitted by Sonja Wyss, OTRA President
