LAPICIDA LAUNCHES MEDITERRANEAN HANDMADE CERAMIC


COLLECTION Bringing a touch of Mediterranean charm to interiors, Lapicida has launched three new ceramic tile collections: ‘Ibiza’, ‘Mallorca’ and ‘Balearics’. Handmade using a centuries’ old technique, the collections pay homage to traditional Mediterranean ceramic designs, perfectly capturing the natural texture and beautiful imperfections of glazed terracotta. The new collections are incredibly versatile, with patterns and plains designed to co-ordinate.


Suitable for interior walls, Ibiza offers four distinct designs - Daltvilla, San Carlos, Sant Rafael and Vedra - each in one colourway.

RAPID WATERPROOFING WITH MAPEI’S MAPELASTIC AQUADEFENSE


TANKING KIT The new Fast Track Ready tanking kit from Mapei provides rapid waterproofing of bathrooms, wet rooms and showers without the loss of Mapei’s emblematic quality. Mapelastic AquaDefense Tanking Kit components are supplied ready to use, and areas can be ready to tile after just four hours without the need to prime.


The tanking kit comprises of Mapelastic AquaDefense and Mapeband PE 120, which is used to form waterproofing layers before applying ceramic, stone and mosaic coatings to areas in contact with moisture and running water. The former’s second coat can be applied one hour after the first coat, and three hours after the second coat; when applied on a suitable substrate, such as dry screed with less than 3% residual moisture, tiles may be bonded after four hours. The kit is also suitable for application on concrete; cementitious screeds and screeds made using special

The Balearics collection features tiles which have been glazed either on the front or on the reverse side, making for a simple yet effective design. Balearic White has a smooth glazed surface whilst Balearic White Rustic has a textured finish.


There is also a mixed option, Balearic White Mixed, which includes a combination of front and reverse glazed tiles.

It is designed for use on substrates that have been well-cured, and are sound, clean and free of substances which could compromise the bond. Tiles installed on floors waterproofed with Mapelastic AquaDefense Tanking Kit can be opened to foot traffic within 12 hours from the start of installation.
