BAL GOES GREENER WITH NEW ENERGY DEAL

Full tiling solutions specialist BAL has signed a new 24-month energy contract with a 100% renewable energy provider.

As of November, the Stoke-on-Trent- based manufacturer of tile adhesives, grouts, levellers and other ancillary tiling products is supplied by Ørsted – a Danish company that leads the world in offshore wind.

Formed as DONG Energy in 2006 following the merger of six Danish energy companies, Ørsted has completely divested its black energy operations and has established itself with a 25% market share in offshore wind operations.

On a global scale, it has built enough offshore wind to power 9.5 million people, with an ambition to power 30 million people with offshore wind by 2025.

In 2017, Ørsted opened the world’s largest offshore wind turbines at

DEVON&DEVON CONSOLIDATES PRESENCE IN ENGLAND

WITH NEW ACQUISITION Luxury bathroom and interiors brand Devon&Devon, located in Westbourne Grove, London, has been acquired by Italy.

Previously, this single-brand showroom – although an Italian brand – was not directly operated by Italy but instead managed by local partners.

As of November 2019, the well- known Devon&Devon store in the heart of Notting Hill has become part of the directly operated stores of the brand.

Graziano Verdi, CEO of Devon&Devon, explained: “We are particularly pleased to consolidate our presence in London. Not only because of the importance of the English market in terms of turnover and relations with specifiers, but also because of the special relationship we have always had with England: to which we owe our name.”

As a celebration of this acquisition, the Westbourne Grove showroom will be re-imagined in a way that beautifully illustrates the values, the quality and history of the Florentine brand, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary.

General Manager, Nicola Bertini, said: “Devon&Devon considers each of its stores all over the world as ambassadors of its philosophy of living, of the Italian quest for perfection and of its distinctive style, characterised by timeless products that reinterpret the best of European tradition and 20th-century design with an attentive focus on the present.”

As well as the complete and co- ordinated look for the bathroom, the 200 sqm London showroom will offer solutions for the interior design of the whole home (including marble, ceramic and wooden floorings and wallcoverings; wallpapers and furniture; mirrors, lamps and accessories). In the store, private customers, interior designers, architects and contractors will also discover ‘Tailored Interiors’, an exclusive tailor-made design service.

Devon&Devon is located at 77-79 Westbourne Grove, London W2 4UL.

Burbo Bank Extension in Liverpool Bay and continue to grow its offshore presence in UK waters.

Paul Vickers, Head of Procurement at BAL, said: “At BAL, we are always looking at ways to cut our carbon footprint, from replacing our lighting systems with energy-saving LEDs to light detectors, replacement of steam boilers and new dedicated energy- saving air compressors.

“Moving to a 100% renewable energy provider is just another footstep on

the path to being as carbon neutral as we can.”

As well as numerous energy-saving and waste recycling initiatives, BAL also supports Cool Earth – the environmental charity protecting rainforests worldwide.

Cool Earth works with local communities to protect imminently threatened rainforest and protectively blockade tens of thousands of acres of adjacent forest in the Amazon rainforest in Peru.

Alex Underwood, Head of Marketing added: “With our support, Cool Earth’s initiatives in the Ashaninka region have helped save 350 acres from deforestation.

“This means more than 80,000 trees have been protected with more than 90,000 tonnes of CO2 locked-in. This is particularly crucial as deforestation has played a massive part in the climate emergency we are currently dealing with.”
