I don’t know about you but the concept of 2020 sounds a little alien to me. I’ll try to spare you the clichés but it really is a struggle to find where the past decade has gone. If these last ten years have taught me anything, it’s that life tends to hit the fast-forward button as you get older. Perhaps this is heightened in my line of work, having to continuously think and work ahead. As designers, retailers, specifiers and tiling professionals, I’m sure many of you can relate to this. Although it’s hard to detract our minds from thoughts of pigs in blankets and mulled wine right now, it is important to reflect on the emerging trends we have seen over the previous 12 months and anticipate the upcoming go-to styles and designs for the year ahead. To refresh your memories and prepare you for the new year, this issue is packed with features from several industry experts, outlining the major things to look out for next year.

As well as upcoming trends, there’s no better time than now to look at future training opportunities and discover how you can improve your skills in the new year. As well as advice and inspiration on how to develop various aspects of your own personal training and the training you offer for your staff, our dedicated feature section on the topic also has a breakdown of the courses on offer from adhesives and sealants specialist Mapei.

If this wasn’t enough, we also have an extensive preview of February’s Surface Design Show event and a focus on the topics of Natural Stone and Bathrooms and Kitchens. From all of us here at TTS, we wish you a very merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the new year.
