Hello and welcome the May issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety. This is my first issue as the full-time editor of THS and I am looking forward to getting to know the industry. I have some experience with Health & Safety, having also worked in the Facilities Management arena, but I’m sure I still have much to learn.
My editorial debut has a lot to offer, ahead of the Safety & Health Expo we have a preview detailing all you need to know ahead of the ExCeL show, plus comment from some of the exhibitors. Don’t forget to also check out our regular ‘10 Questions With’ feature, in which OnGrade’s Gary Escott discusses telekinesis and dinner with Mohammed Ali.
Elsewhere, our feature sections cover: PPE & Workwear, Slips, Trips & Falls, Plant & Machinery Safety and we have a new section on Hand/Arm Vibration. With copy from the likes of Dr. Martens, Reactec, Forbo, A-SAFE and details of a pioneering study from Nottingham Trent University, it’s a ‘must read’.
We also have stand-alone features from Alcumus, who share a recent case study in which they aid Islington Council in keeping their constituents safe with new risk assessment software, and Evac+Chair who have been training Nationwide building society staff on how to efficiently evacuate premises across the country.
There’s also been a lot to talk about this month, so be sure to check out the News and In the Courts pages to ensure you don’t miss details of Mental Health Awareness Week and IOSH’s No Time to Lose skin cancer awareness campaign. There’s also details of how Deb have been improving hand hygiene at Lord’s Cricket Ground, so there should be plenty to keep you busy until next month!
