AWARDS COUNTED AND VERIFIED...
We whittled down hundreds of nominations to just 50 finalists for the Tomorrow’s Health and Safety Awards 2018. Over the course of the past three months, thousands have voted for the product or
service they believe should be recognised for making an outstanding contribution to the industry. We caught up with the companies that made the podium to get their reactions and tell you a little more about their award-winning products and services.
1ST PLACE HAVWEAR by Reactec
Reactec provide monitoring devices and a management information reporting platform for Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) risk - the cause of one of the most common industrial diseases in the UK, white finger syndrome or HAVS. The condition is the permanent disablement of hand functions and there is no known cure for this disease, only prevention.
HAVWEAR is the only technology of its kind in the UK to be worn on the wrist by the tool user and, as part of the Reactec Analytics Platform with web- based reporting, provides automated exposure management system. The reports help support HSE compliance and aid the design and management of risk reduction controls.
A new Bluetooth feature on HAVWEAR’s award winning device allows supervisors and others to see, at a glance, the status of co-workers’ exposure risk at any time via an app on their Smartphone. This enables real time assessment of risk and facilitates early intervention, allowing issues around work rotas, tool usage or performance to be addressed
2ND PLACE De-flex Modular Dual Locking Anti-fatigue Mat by Notrax
The 570 De-Flex is an extremely comfortable heavy duty anti-fatigue matting system with popular diamond plate traction surface that can be easily assembled for

without delay. These interventions are an essential part of a company’s continual risk reduction plan, allowing an unprecedented level of proactive involvement through this enhanced ability to monitor individual exposure. This further supports behavioural change and encourages both tool operator and their supervisor to participate in risk reduction with increased awareness of their personal HAV exposure risks.
THEY SAID: “We are thrilled to win this award and my thanks to everyone who took the time to vote for us especially our customers who have been the trail blazers in adopting our innovative technology. All the team at Reactec work hard to help promote best practise in taking action to reduce the risk of developing Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome from the exposure to vibration transmitted to the hand and arm principally from the use of power tools. Our award-winning HAVwear, which has recently been independently validated by the Institute of Occupational Medicine, is a wearable wrist device that determines in real time an individual’s exposure to vibration during every day use of power tools,
coverage of large areas or individual workstation mats.
The durability and resilience of the rubber creates an energizing rebound effect or “deflection” that stimulates automatic balance checks to improve posture and constant micro movements to maintain blood flow.

YOU SAID: “Within our business, we identified an issue with accurately recording employees exposure to HAVs. Reactec and the HAVWEAR wrist monitors were an ideal solution. The team at Reactec helped us undertake trials, spent time educating those involved to the setup and use. They couldn’t do enough to help us.”
“Brilliant product and a real ground- breaking piece of technology. Also, a great home grown British product.”
“This is a great product, ensuring the boys don’t work over limits to prevent HAV – an excellent piece of kit.”
ground while the bulleted domes underneath allow the mat to bend and flex with every movement. The popular diamond plate surface provides traction yet allows easy twist turns for freedom of movement for dynamic workstations. The extended ramp system prevents tripping and allows cart access with smart beveling solutions for inside and outside corners.
