HPAT550 and HPAT650 by Martindale Electric
Every year in the UK, a significant number of electrical accidents involving electrical appliances are reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
In accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations (1989), any electrical equipment that can cause injury must be maintained in a safe condition. Designed to help raise the standards of electrical safety in the workplace, testing ensures that electrical appliances and equipment are safe to use.
In 2025 Martindale launched two Portable Appliance Testers (PAT), also known as Electrical Equipment Testers (EET), to help combat these dangers. The Martindale HPAT550 and HPAT650 are compact, easy to operate and feature-rich. These new testers are designed to simplify PAT testing while maintaining full compliance with testing requirements for Class I and Class II appliances.
Both models are built for portability and convenience and offer one-button automatic testing and a clear PASS/FAIL indication. These features, combined with USB-C fast charging and a lightweight, rugged design,
make the HPAT series ideal for people conducting routine testing on the move.
The HPAT550 and HPAT650 deliver all the essential tests needed to verify the safety of electrical appliances. Both instruments include an IT-safe continuity test and selectable insulation resistance testing, giving greater flexibility across a wide of applications.
With a simple interface and logical test sequencing, the HPAT series has been developed to reduce user error and increase efficiency, particularly for high-volume environments. The HPAT550 features fully automated testing modes for quick and consistent results, ideal for basic compliance checking. The HPAT650 includes onboard memory for storing up to 100 test results with on-screen recall, so testers keep track of their testing without external devices.
