FM EVENTS

Sponsored by Loo Of The Year Awards ABOUT LOO OF THE YEAR AWARDS Since 1987 the Loo of the Year Awards has been a leading event in the UK

cleaning and FM industry calendar. Managing Director Mike Bone explains how your company can benefit by becoming involved.

The Loo of the Year Awards exists to encourage the highest standards in washrooms throughout the UK and Ireland. Everyone has a shared responsibility to make this happen – washroom providers, washroom suppliers, cleaning contractors, FM companies, staff, visitors and customers – all toilet users. The Awards are owned and run independently, and since their introduction in 1987 the annual Loo of the Year Awards competition focuses on washrooms owned, managed or cleaned by the entrants. It is ‘the washroom standard’ and recognised by our thousands of entrants.

Any type of ‘away-from-home’ washroom can be nominated or entered in the competition, and washrooms in all market sectors are covered including retail, hospitality, leisure, heritage, entertainment, holiday parks, education, health, offices, car parks, public toilets, mobile toilets, transport and sport covering 61 separate entry categories. Entries are accepted from anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Every entry is fully assessed against established judging criteria, covering male and female facilities, as well as any baby changing, accessible, Changing Places, Space to Change or Hygiene Room facilities. All entries receive a Loo of the

Year Awards grading certificate; Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum, following an unannounced visit by a fully trained and authorised Loo of the Year Awards Inspector.

The ‘Washroom Cleaner of the Year Awards’ relate specifically to the cleaning staff that look after facilities, rather than the washrooms themselves. All cleaning staff seen during an inspection visit will automatically be considered for the ‘Washroom Cleaner of the Year Award’.

The Washroom Service Provider Award, introduced in 2017, recognises the contribution that washroom service providers have in provision of award winning washrooms.

Mike Bone, Managing Director of the Loo of the Year Awards, said: “The improving economic situation and targeting of new entry prospects has resulted in a year on year increase in new entrants. Entries are particularly strong in the retail sector – including all major shopping centres, hospitality – including Asda, McDonald’s, JD Wetherspoon, and prestigious buildings and holiday park market sectors, with increasing numbers of entries directly from cleaning and FM companies.

Entrants recognise the value of

gaining an independent assessment of their provision, gaining prestige and

recognition of their brand, and importantly their cleaning employee’s efforts.

Benefit From Entering Entrants recognise the value of gaining an independent assessment of their washroom provision, gaining prestige and recognition of their brand, and importantly their cleaning employee’s efforts by achieving a Loo of the Year Award. Cleaning contractors and FM company entrants use their grading to benchmark their washroom provision performance against competitors and can use the awards success as a real benefit when in negotiations with clients and prospects.

Attend The Prestigious Awards Event National and UK Awards will be presented at the prestigious daytime Presentation Event on Friday 7 December 2018 at the elegant four-star St Johns Hotel in Solihull. A unique location that is accessible from all parts of the UK that day – no need for an overnight stay!

In addition to presentation of the Awards there will be a sparkling wine reception, four course lunch with wine, supplier exhibition, entertainment by a well known comedian and unrivalled networking opportunities. The event offers an excellent opportunity to provide hospitality to staff, customers and prospects. Many entrants bring their staff to the event as a reward for their hard work and achievement during the past year and the ability to celebrate their success together as a team.
