Hello and welcome to the May issue of Tomorrow’s FM.
Having ditched the ‘Think FM’ name for its annual symposium following a rebrand last year, the Institute of Workplace & Facilities Management’s (IWFM’s) flagship conference took workplace and facilities practitioners
through a programme exploring the macro environment, the changing nature of work and the skills needed to succeed in the new world. You can check out our full review of the event on page 22.
Although this weather wouldn’t suggest it, we’re fast approaching the summer months. Thus, we find ourselves digging our way into the Summer Maintenance feature section again, with GRITIT Grounds Maintenance arguing for a seasonal approach to planning your year to help stay in control of all things horticultural.
Elsewhere in this issue, according to tech firm Forescout, 69% of organisations in the UK have more than 1,000 internet-connected devices on their networks. For nearly a fifth (19%), it’s actually 10,000-plus devices. As we head into the era of superfast 5G, these opportunities will increase immeasurably and as a result our world will depend more and more on real-time data processing.
Tomorrow’s FM spoke to Leo Craig of Riello UPS to discuss the huge challenges FMs face in this ever interconnected world.
We also have the complete guide on all things Facilities Show 2019 related,
which returns to the ExCeL Arena, London on 18th-20th June. With the details on what to expect, a list of the essential exhibitors and a timetable of keynote speakers and seminars, our show preview tells you everything you need to know before the big day.
