FLOOR INSTALL AT ROYAL GWENT HOSPITAL ENDOSCOPY UNIT COMPLETED WITH MAPEI


Levelling products and adhesives from Mapei have been used to complete a resilient floor installation at Royal Gwent Hospital’s new Endoscopy Unit. The installation, by M2 Flooring Solutions, spanned 3,000 sq m and featured Polyflor sheet vinyl. The new purpose-built facility was designed by architects from BDP and delivered by contractor, Lancer Scott.


Located within a former birthing unit, the new Endoscopy Unit will provide an expanded range of services to patients in the Gwent area using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The unit includes four operating theatres, a range of treatment rooms, a spacious recovery area and a dedicated space for relatives. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS Fire safety supplier CheckFire has introduced two new PFAS-free fire extinguishers to The Green Range, marking another step forward in sustainable fire safety solutions. The CommanderEDGE 3ltr and Commander 6ltr wet chemical fire extinguishers are specifically designed for installation in commercial kitchens, catering, and canteen environments, supporting the risks posed by Class F fires (cooking oils and fats). Both the CommanderEDGE 3ltr and Commander 6ltr units now feature a redesigned bell-bottom hose, providing superior accuracy and effectiveness in extinguishing Class F fire., The new hose design offers better control and coverage for extinguishing Class F fires when compared to the previous lance model, which is being phased out.

The Polyflor sheet vinyl was installed with two solvent-free adhesives: Ultrabond Eco 380 – a non- flammable pressure sensitive adhesive with strong and fast initial tack and long open time and Ultrabond Eco VS90 Plus - a high temperature universal adhesive, also featuring an EMICODE: EC1 Plus (very low VOC) formulation.
