CARE SHOW REVIEW

A Close Look at the Care Show 2017

With the recent announcement of new ownership for the Care Show, we reflect on the successes of this year’s event and find out what’s in store for 2018.

Professionals from right across the care sector flocked to Birmingham’s NEC once again this year for the annual Care Show conference and exhibition, setting an all- time high for delegate attendance.

The Show, which was held from 10th – 11th October, cemented its place as a firm favourite within the sector, while over 190 exhibitors reported brisk trading on the packed show floor, where new technologies and education hubs proved a big hit.

From now onwards, the show is under the new ownership of specialist healthcare events producer CloserStill Media, which used the 2017 event to unveil the show’s 2018 manifesto, ‘Building a Better Future for Care’, and a refreshed brand identity.

Michael Westcott, Director at CloserStill, said: “The Care Show has faithfully served its profession and the industry for many years and we believe it is time that the show benefited from a fresh injection of energy and resources from our highly experienced, award-winning healthcare events team.”

CloserStill promises it will deliver a stronger, more practical training and education programme at the Care Show. Across its five-stream education and training programme, it

will focus on Business, People, Assets, Regulatory/Compliance and Excellence in Care from the frontline, sharing expertise and success stories from the some of the UK’s most innovative care home operators and service providers.

Alastair White, Marketing Consultant at Care England, commented: “I personally think the fact that CloserStill has taken over the Care Show is a very good thing for the sector. I’m expecting the impact of CloserStill to be a positive one, with the amount of experience it can bring to bear. They have done a lot of work in building up the Health+Care Show over the last three or four years.”

More than 100% of the space of the 2017 show has already been booked by exhibitors into the new look 2018 Care Show.

Olivia Nolan, Sales Executive at JLA, said: “We have to be here – if you're not here, you’re not sending the right message. This show is the one to go to.”

Delegates continue to find the Care Show’s unique focus on arming them with practical tools and information to help their business.

One such delegate was the owner of Autumn Years Care, who concluded: “The conference has been brilliant, and very helpful for our business. We

have been able to talk to a lot of people here in a very short time; it would have taken us a month to meet them all individually. The sessions and speakers are fantastic with varied content, and we have learnt a lot which we will take away and digest. We like looking at ideas and innovations in residential care to see if there are things that can crossover into domiciliary care.”

Care Show Manager Michael Corbett added: “We must remain confident about the future of such a hugely important sector. We want the Care Show to play a pivotal role in injecting newfound optimism into everyone striving to improve the lives of those living in care.”

The Care Show will return in 2018 on October 17th and 18th at the NEC and will be delivered by CloserStill’s award- winning team, responsible for multiple health brands including Health+Care, The Pharmacy Show, Best Practice, The Dentistry Show, Occupational Therapy – The OT Show, The Therapy Show and Acute and General Medicine.
