TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
LEAD WITH CARE
Flourish explains how its training programmes are helping to shape the leaders of the care sector; delivering widespread positive impact.
Leadership within social care isn’t just a job title, it’s about having the confidence to step up, inspire others and make a difference. The importance of a good leader can be felt throughout a team, giving everyone the confidence and the skills they need to do their work to the highest standards. Within the care sector, it’s even more crucial because these raised standards result in quality care for those who need it.
Everyone remembers the inspiring leaders they have worked with – as well as those they would rather forget. The best leaders are those who recognise that, no matter how much experience they have, there’s always more to learn. That is at the heart of three key adult social care leadership courses being delivered by Flourish, through its Click Academy platform.
The three courses, all developed in partnership with managers from the sector, are:
• Lead to Succeed • Well Led • Leading Change Improving Care (LCIC)
All three training programmes have been produced and recently updated by Skills for Care, based on the latest government legislation and marketplace trends and factors. They are aimed at providing both new and established leaders with everything they need to know in order to effectively manage.
Whether you're supporting colleagues, advocating for your team, or finding solutions, these programmes equip you with

the knowledge and tools to lead with care. And if you sign up before the end of March 2025, eligible care providers can claim back training costs of up to £510 through the Adult Social Care Learning and Development Support Scheme.
Lead to Succeed covers five key areas with the aim of equipping professionals with the rounded skills, knowledge and expertise they need to be strong and effective leaders. Well Led digs down into leadership fundamentals, change management and best practice, while LCIC helps social care professionals implement change within their organisation.
Peter Humphries, Head of Customer Engagement at Flourish is an expert in the adult social care sector. He said: “These courses focus on the soſt skills. Managers can do a diploma and come away with a qualification on paper, but not know the best ways to coach, how to have the one-to-one conversations that really make a difference.
“They have such a huge impact on changing people’s perspectives and the way they see leadership. I don’t see them as management courses, they are about leadership, about leading from the front, having a positive impact on their team, their organisation and their sector by changing the way they do things.”
The courses are targeted at anyone from senior team leaders, registered managers and regional managers to directors and CEOs. Peter explains: “We have had people who have been in the sector for 35 years attend, they didn’t feel like they had anything leſt to learn, and come away telling us how much they had benefitted from the course. There are always new skills to learn.”
