The HS 6 Series of laundry washers from Girbau UK, specialist in laundry solutions, offer an energy-efficient, high-speed solution for care facilities.
In all models, the ratio between the drum diameter and depth has been calculated to make loading and unloading especially easy as a result of the tilting of the machine. The optional tilting system (TILT system) is very efficient, requires little maintenance and does not take up additional space. On static machines, a cost-effective optional system to aid the loading and unloading of machines can be added. “EASY LOAD” has water inlet (compacting) and drum rotation (positioning) functions for loading, and rotation functions for unloading with the door open (outlet).
Available for the HS-6023, HS-6040, HS-6057 and HS-6110 models, the revolution in the high-capacity 6 Series washers has arrived in the form of the INTELI control, opening up a new world of programming possibilities in an extremely easy and dynamic way. With a high memory capacity, it has 20 pre-defined programs and 79 free programs. A system of icons developed by Girbau allows all the parameters of a wash program to be programmed intuitively, regardless of the user’s language.
Girbau’s HS 6 Series has already made an impact on the care industry, particularly in Castlemeadow Care’s St John’s House Care Home (featured in Tomorrow’s Care August/September). Aſter receiving tailored advice from a Girbau laundry consultant, the group chose two of the Girbau HS-6013 machines, each with a capacity of 14kg enable the housekeepers to process the bed linen, bath towels and residents’ daily laundry.

IQ-CARE iOmniscient
iOmniscient’s IQ-Care product is designed to mitigate risks for aged people living alone at home. It is an artificial intelligence based CCTV system which the families or guardians of the aged person can install in their home. The system totally protects privacy as all images are redacted and only available to the algorithms in the system itself. This means cameras can even be placed in bathrooms without compromising privacy. No one other than the computer can see anything – and for the computer it is just a set of numbers.
The system can detect if the person falls down, sending an immediate alarm to a carer on their smart phone to summon help. If the person falls asleep and does not stir for several hours again a carer can be notified to ensure that the person is well.
If professional carers have regular scheduled visits, the system, using its face analytics, can tell when and how oſten they came and how long they spent with the aged person.
For families who have aged parents living alone this can ensure that they can react quickly during an emergency and ensure that their loved ones are safe
Though primarily designed for aged people living on their own, the system can also be used in nursing homes and aged care facilities, and additional features are available for such situations. For instance, in Dementia and Alzheimer Patient Wards the system can raise an alarm if a patient attempts to leave the premises while not restricting access to visitors and staff.
The recently-launched system has already been implemented in several major aged care facilities around the world.
