ABOUT THIS PRODUCT...


AKW’s new Task Focused Lighting Kit is helping many care homes across the UK improve lighting in one of the highest fall-risk areas – the bathroom. The kit has been developed with the aim of reducing residents’ accidents and promoting independence in the bathroom for as long as possible.


AKW has worked with occupational therapists to understand what is needed to create a well-lit, safe bathroom, particularly for those with dementia, visual impairments and other disabilities. The end result is a lighting kit that mixes a good level of general ambient light with task lighting, to promote easy movement around the space, showering, washing and toileting.


The standard kit contains everything needed to light a standard UK care home bathroom (standard size- 8ſt x 6ſt or 2,438mm x 1,829mm) and the products conform to all relevant industry standards for a bathroom installation. Additional products can be bought for larger spaces.

Five narrow beam LED task lights: three for the bath/shower zone and two for the toilet and sink areas - providing just the right level of light for users to perform specific tasks such as showering, shaving and other personal care activities.

Two long-lasting, bright LED ceiling lights - to promote safe movement around the space by ensuring that shadows, dark areas and glare are avoided.


One high-contrast, blue pull-cord switch – ideal for those with visual impairments.
