Focus on sustainability
Greyland Limited shares with us details on the strides they are making to lead the market in sustainability.
During 2022, Greyland has partnered with The Planet Mark, gaining its Business Certification, furthering their commitment to reduce their impact on society. This is an internationally-recognised sustainability certification for all organisations acknowledging continuous progress, encouraging action, and building an empowered community of like-minded individuals.
In order to achieve this sustainability certification, Greyland has followed a robust three-step process: measuring their impact, engaging everyone in the business, and communicating our progress.
Greyland has measured its own carbon footprint and will continue to take responsibility for its carbon emissions in order to have a positive impact on planet and society. Greyland is also contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as the company believes that it’s important to do more good and create a sustainable future.
Through Planet Mark, Greyland is proud to have protected an area of endangered rainforest with Cool Earth – a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Their pledge goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
Additionally, through the commitment to Planet Mark, Greyland is making a charitable donation to The Eden Project – an educational charity, connecting us with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work towards a better future.
The entire business has contributed to Greyland’s achievement in becoming Planet Mark certified, and every individual will continue to play an important role in their sustainability commitment. This drive towards sustainability within Greyland’s operations is matched by the focus on supplying the market with sustainable products, in the form of their highly successful Maximum Eco range.
As the name suggests, Maximum Eco consists of cleaning products that are as ‘green as it gets’, following two years of research and development. It’s the first comprehensive product line of its kind that includes not only a UK-sourced probiotic enzymes range, but also a water-based range.
Probiotics work by using eco-friendly bacteria to colonise surfaces, which produce enzymes cultivated to break down organic matters like carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. By doing this, these products are able to effectively remove

soiling for a long-term cleaning effect, and help eliminate unpleasant odours.
The key benefits of using probiotic cleaners include cost reductions, health benefits, and reduced environmental impact. These products use a sustainable source of UK- cultivated enzymes, rather than an imported variety, and therefore have a minimal environmental footprint. Due to the non-corrosive nature of probiotic cleaners, surfaces aren’t damaged by regular use.
Once surfaces are colonised, the bacteria continue to work long after application. This will reduce the volume of product required and, as a result, it will also reduce costly labour time. Probiotic enzymes can reach hard to access areas where conventional products wouldn’t be as effective, such as in grouting, flooring imperfections, grease traps, and carpet underlay.
This is a key focus for Greyland Limited, which is developing more lines to widen this range, while still using only UK- cultivated bacteria.
The Maximum Eco Water-based range represents a revolutionary step in environmental cleaning. Products in this range are powerful, effective, and safer than many cleaning chemicals already in use. All are non-toxic, non- flammable, non-carcinogenic, and non-harmful to marine and aquatic life.
Made from plant-based, environmentally-friendly ingredients to be fully user-friendly and biodegradable, they comply with all the current and forthcoming legislation including EC Detergent Regulation 648/2004 and REACH 1907/2006.
The Maximum Eco range has been introduced for customers looking for selected products balancing minimum environmental impact with maximum efficacy. There’s a product in every area users are likely to need, from dealing with toilet odours, to maintaining hard floors, to cleaning carpets, or degreasing hard surfaces, or simply for washing hands.
Maximum Eco is manufactured by one of Britain’s leading cleaning chemical manufacturers, who are also one of the few UK companies to be awarded both the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Standards and the prestigious ISO 14001 Environmental Standard.
