The last few years have been rough for every industry, but with the spectre of

COVID-19 now in the rear view, the cleaning industry is able to once again turn its attention back towards fully embracing sustainable and environmentally-friendly endeavours. While some companies never waivered in their objectives, many were

forced to scale back or put their plans on hold, while many are now feeling the strain of the cost-of-living crisis.

However, we're now seeing renewed interest in eco cleaning, despite the current challenges. Going ‘green’ has never been more approachable, both in terms of cost

and quality, and the benefits to business are manifold. Clients are actively demanding cleaning services and products that can help them meet their own sustainable targets, so it’s no longer acceptable to pass up the opportunity to be more eco- friendly in favour of cheap and wasteful alternatives.

In this special supplement dedicated to Sustainability in the cleaning and hygiene

industry, Lorcan Mekitarian, Chairman of the CHSA, chats to us about their Roadmap to Sustainability and its Five Pillars, while Stuart Hands from Tork manufacturer

Essity looks into making paper-based disposables more environmentally-friendly and recycling wherever possible. We find out more about why Toucan Eco’s

manufacturer, Centrego, commissioned an independent carbon footprint audit of its Active Plus system, and Daniel from Kärcher UK discusses how facilities managers can adopt more sustainable cleaning practices in the workplace.
