New Accreditation Scheme for chemical manufacturers

The Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) is launching an Accreditation Scheme for Manufacturers of Cleaning Chemicals.

This move means the CHSA has achieved its strategic ambition of Accrediting all members. The combination of the Association’s rigorous Code of Practice and its Accreditation Schemes guarantees

its members trade ethically and work hard to maintain standards in the industry.

All the existing chemical manufacturing members of the CHSA have passed the Scheme audit and are now accredited. The members of the Scheme as it launches are: Bio-Productions, Chemex International, Diversey UK, Eastern Valley Chemicals, Easy Cleaning Solutions, Evans Vanodine International, GOJO Industries, Greyland, Holchem Laboratories, Kitchenmaster NI, Mirius, P&G Professional, Prochem Europe, PVA Hygiene, SC Johnson Professional and Selden Research.

All members of the Scheme have signed a commitment to maintain the highest standards and trade ethically. They have successfully passed an audit, conducted by the CHSA’s Independent Inspector, against that commitment. This includes is a determination on the part of Scheme members to support and facilitate the recycling of the plastic containers holding the cleaning chemicals, initially by including the recycling emblem on the packaging.

The Chemical Manufacturers Accreditation Scheme joins the CHSA’s existing Accreditation Schemes for Distributors and for Manufacturers of Soft Tissue, Plastic Refuse Sacks and Industrial Cotton Mops. The Schemes mean buyers of cleaning and hygiene products can be certain they are trading with an ethical company and that ‘what’s on the box is what’s in the box’. Through its Accreditation Schemes and Code of Practice, the CHSA maintains standards in the industry with its ‘Our Standards. Your Guarantee’ mantra.

Mike Stubbs, Vice President of the CHSA and Chairman of the Accreditation Schemes, explained: “Our focus is always on driving up standards in the industry. The launch of the Accreditation Scheme for Manufacturers of Cleaning Chemicals is an important step in the achievement in this strategic aim. It guarantees buyers from an Accredited member can rely on their commitment to standards and ethical trading.

“Our existing Accreditation Scheme for Distributors and Manufacturing Standards Accreditation Schemes for Soft Tissue, Plastic Refuse Sacks and Industrial Cotton Mops, are already widely recognised as having done so. The increasing number of buyers of cleaning and hygiene products specifying our Schemes in their tenders provides evidence for this.”

Clarion calls on Samsic

Clarion Housing Group has appointed Samsic UK to provide cleaning services to its offices in central and south-east England.

The contractor is supplying 70 directly-employed staff to clean 26 of the organisation's offices. Clarion, which has 125,000 homes nationwide, now accesses from Samsic a wide portfolio of innovations and solutions with focus on the delivery of sustainable solutions.

Jonathan King, Samsic’s CEO, said: "Service partners with capacity, relevant experience, enabling access to environmentally-considerate solutions are sought by the UK's major housing providers. Given contractors play a key role in determining Clarion's indirect environmental footprint, their evidenced commitment to sustainability and environmental management is a key criterion in selecting suppliers.

"We are delighted to be working with Clarion to help reduce that footprint across a quality property portfolio."
