WASHROOM HYGIENE

SPONSORED BY: ESSITY

Tork helps to optimise sustainability in the washroom

Tork provides products, systems and services that allow businesses to reduce their waste and make sustainable choices in the washroom. This helps to show customers you care – about them, their ideals and about the environment.

Tork is passionate about sustainability. As the leading global professional hygiene brand, we provide cutting-edge solutions that promote sustainable hygiene management.

This is particularly true in the away-from-home washroom where we offer recycled products, recycling options and carbon-neutral dispensers.

Among our latest launches are Tork Natural Colour hand towels and toilet paper made from 100% recycled fibres. These are FSC and EU Ecolabel certified and their light brown hue helps to demonstrate your sustainability values to your employees, guests and visitors.

Besides being highly sustainable, Tork Natural Colour hand towels and toilet paper are also much softer to the touch than traditional recycled products. This is because around 30-50% of the fibres that make up the products come from used corrugated containers such as shipping cartons, while the remainder originates from other high-grade fibre sources such as sorted office paper.

Ivette Perez Badillo, Tork Global Brand Director Toilet Systems, said: “Customers no longer need to choose between sustainability and performance. The Tork Natural Colour product family is a great choice for customers who want to show their environmental commitment while keeping the same high Tork quality.”

Products in the range are Tork Matic Natural Hand Towel Roll; Tork Xpress Soft Natural Multifold Hand Towel Advanced; Tork Natural Coreless Mid-Size Toilet Roll Advanced; and Tork Natural Mini Jumbo Toilet Roll Advanced. All refills are compatible with existing Tork dispensers.

In another sustainable move, a total of 27 Tork washroom dispensers for soap, toilet tissue and hand towels have now been certified as carbon neutral. Customers can now equip their entire washroom with Tork carbon neutral dispensers. Certified products include the Tork SmartOne Toilet Paper Dispenser; Tork PeakServe Continuous Hand Towel Dispenser; Tork Coreless Midsize toilet paper system; and Tork soap dispensers.

Essity had already reduced carbon emissions for several dispensers by using certified renewable electricity during their production. In order to reach carbon neutral, the

company now offsets the remaining carbon emissions with investments in certified climate projects with ClimatePartner.

Carbon neutral dispensers appeal in particular to universities, councils, government facilities and other purchasers who place sustainability high on their agenda. Signage declaring the carbon neutral status of the dispensers is available for customers keen to communicate their sustainability credentials.

Essity’s Director of Sustainability Communications, Reneé Remijnse, added: “A large number of our customers are heading towards net zero. We want to show that we are also moving forward and making a difference.

“The new certification helps customers to meet their sustainability ambitions while also reducing the environmental impact on our planet.”

Meanwhile, Tork PaperCircle – the world’s first recycling service for paper towels – is dramatically enhancing the sustainability of paper hand towels across Europe.

Customers signing up for Tork PaperCircle have their used washroom hand towels picked up from their business premises and taken to local recycling centres where they are turned into other tissue products.

Around 25m hand towels in 14 countries are recycled every month under the scheme, which enables businesses to reduce their environmental footprint for hand towels by 40%, compared with current waste handling options.

Clear signage in the washroom indicates where delegates should place their used towels for recycling. This demonstrates the sustainability credentials of the venue’s managers while also providing a strong ethical message to washroom visitors.

Tork has become a market leader due to its expertise in terms of functional design and sustainability, along with its extensive hygiene knowledge.

Besides offering Tork hygiene and health systems, Essity also manufactures baby care, feminine care and incontinence products, plus medical solutions under a range of brands including Tena, Jobst, Leukoplast, Libero, Libresse, Lotus, Nosotras, Saba, Tempo, Vinda and Zewa.
