Editor’s Voice

With the temperature dropping and the nights drawing in, the spectre of Christmas is once again looming over us, and for some of us that’s an even scarier thought than anything which could be cooked up for Halloween. Still, as we ramp up towards the big day, the cleaning

industry will be much in demand for the next few months, and much of what we all saw at trade shows earlier this year will get the chance to shine before the New Year.

In the October edition of Tomorrow’s Cleaning we’ve got a bumper section dedicated to Technology & Data. As most tech in cleaning

and hygiene operates by collecting data, is it inevitable that there’s a trade-off between privacy and efficacy when using these high-tech

solutions? Essity’s Stuart Hands discusses the issue. Peartree’s Stuart Conroy explains why FMs should expect cleaning data to support better decisions and not just provide a digital record, plus Georgia Jordan from BioHygiene asks why, when everyone has data, can nobody see the full picture?

Over in our special focus on Healthcare Hygiene, MSL’s Megan Barrett

reveals why EN 17486 is a standard no brand supplying into healthcare can afford to ignore, while Truvox’s Gordon McVean tells us why every surface matters when it comes to hygiene in healthcare, starting

with the floor. Northwood’s Paul Mulready offers us advice on what healthcare settings should look for in a washroom, and Liam Mynes from Essity looks at ways of speeding up cleaning and hygiene in a hospital without sacrificing effectiveness.
