Winning contracts
Bright & Beautiful Director, Kalpesh Bhayani, on how contract cleaners can make themselves stand out from the crowd.
We offer floor to ceiling cleans because we do something else differently: we don't send out single cleaners, we send out teams of two or three. This reduces the amount of time we’re in workplaces and means we keep any disruption to an absolute minimum. There’s no cost implication for our client because whilst we’re employing more people, the length of time we’re at the job is shorter. Sending out teams also means there’s greater accountability because our cleaners monitor each other’s work and a team leader oversees the whole job.
Commercial cleaning companies can work with organisations to create a service that meets their needs and budget. Firms employing contract cleaners don’t have staff issues relating to their cleaners or have to concern themselves with their training needs, sickness or holidays.
Hiring a contract cleaner would appear to be a no-brainer and, over the years, the cleaning industry has developed into one of the UK’s most thriving sectors. Pre-lockdown figures suggested the UK is the fifth highest country in terms of the number of people it employs in the cleaning sector. At the time, nearly 450,000 people were employed and the industry held an estimated market value of £7bn. So, in such a busy marketplace, how do you make your contract cleaning business stand out?
At Bright & Beautiful, we operate a fully managed service to give clients peace of mind. Our public liability insurance, health and safety procedures and employee liability insurance ensure our clients, their premises and our team are protected. Our carefully vetted team follows strict security procedures so clients’ premises are secure at all times, and we have confidentiality agreements in our contracts.
We’re also supported by a proactive head office team – the value of which was clearly in evidence at the beginning of the first lockdown. Thanks to their lightning-fast response, providing our teams with the latest COVID-Secure information, we were one of the first cleaning companies to get back out there supporting clients.
There are other things we take for granted which we’ve come to realise aren’t necessarily a given amongst our competitors. For instance, every clean we offer is a complete floor to ceiling clean using our own eco-friendly cleaning products. We take cleaning products and a fresh set of sterilised quality clean cloths and mops to every job so busy office managers don’t need to worry about purchase orders, keeping an eye on supplies or storing cleaning products and equipment.

All this has meant we have a 96% retention rate amongst our clients, fantastic feedback and our commercial client base extends beyond traditional office-based contracts. The speed at which we can turn around jobs successfully has led to us being sought out by the likes of theatres, estate agents and holiday lettings agents.
Theatres enjoy working with us because they often have ad hoc requirements due to their high levels of dressing rooms and bathrooms. If they need additional areas cleaning our teams are in a position to take on that extra work. Holiday letting agents and estate agents are also keen to work with us because our teams turn around properties for them in a far shorter time than individual cleaners.
These are just some of the things that help us stand out from the crowd – we hope it helps you too.
