We’ve gone from celebrating the New Year to settling back indoors for the third
national lockdown here in the UK, and with good reason: record infection rates, higher rates of death and two new strains of the virus have been running rampant over the last month or so. Even with multiple vaccines in the offing, rollout will be slow just to get it to the most vulnerable in society, let alone into the general public.
It’s hard not to feel a sense of bleakness and isolation at dipping in and out of
lockdowns, but it’s important to remember and appreciate that we do have an end in sight – even though for some it can feel so far away. The cleaning industry has been a remarkable, vital part of global efforts to ease lockdowns and, at least partially, restore a sense of normality. This has only been possible thanks to the adaptability of
companies and employees to the ‘new normal’ of hygiene and safety being top priority. In the first issue of Tomorrow’s Cleaning for 2021, we’ve got a special report from
Essity’s Jeremy Bennett, who is looking at how hospitality venues have been reacting
to the COVID-19 crisis. Prochem let us know about their Woolsafe-approved sanitising system, which is being used across many different venues.
We also hear from a number of Contract Cleaning companies, including Bright & Beautiful, who let us know how contract cleaners can make themselves stand out from the crowd, and Cleanology’s Dominic Ponniah talks to us about adjusting to the
‘new normal’. We also get word from Cleankill Pest Control on why prevention is better than the cure, and Julia from Beaver Pest Control explains why technology is helping to improve pest control through remote monitoring.
Thank you very much for reading, please stay safe and enjoy the issue!
