CFA ELECTS FIRST FEMALE VICE-PRESIDENT AS NEW COUNCIL TAKES SHAPE

The Contract Flooring Association held its Annual General Meeting on 14 July at Leicester Racecourse, electing a new leadership team and Council to represent members through 2026/27.

Mat Brown of Uzin Utz UK Ltd takes over as President from Alan McEwan, who steps down after two years at the helm. In a landmark moment for the Association, Louise Walters of Designer Contracts becomes the CFA’s first female Vice- President, a milestone that reinforces the Association’s growing focus on women in flooring. Carl Harper of Westcotes Flooring Co Ltd was elected Treasurer.

The CFA Council numbers 15 members, deliberately structured to reflect the make- up of the industry: eight contractors, five manufacturers, one distributor and one consultant, spanning businesses of every size. New and returning Council members include Kenny Smith of MacGregor Flooring, alongside re-elected representatives from across the sector.

CEO Richard Catt reported a strong year for the Association, citing successful lobbying

CUT DOWN ON OCEAN WASTE AND FIGHT POVERTY WITH COMFYTEX DELUXE MAX

LeoLine Comfytex Deluxe Max features a textile backing for easy, glue-free installation, but it’s no ordinary textile backing, saving the eqivalent of six bottles from the ocean for every 10 square metres installed.

While all textile backings from LeoLine include recycled plastic, it’s only the Comfytex Deluxe Max range that features Social Plastic from Plastic Bank. Every day, Plastic Bank communities in Indonesia, the Philippines, Egypt, Brazil, Thailand and the Cameroon collect ocean-bound plastic waste and bring it to local centres, ready to turn into new material.

That means for every 10 square metres of LeoLine Comfytex Deluxe Max installed, the equivalent of six plastic bottles is saved from reaching the ocean. What’s more, Plastic Bank rewards its local collectors with life- improving benefits including health, work and life insurance, grocery vouchers, school supplies and more. With Comfytex Deluxe Max, LeoLine is cutting down on ocean plastic

and improving the lives of people in vulnerable coastal communities.

David Wray, national sales manager residential, said: “Using Social Plastic in our Comfytex Deluxe Max collection helps us to make a positive impact, not just in reducing ocean-bound plastic but also in supporting the lives of people affected by plastic waste. It means that every homeowner can choose Comfytex Deluxe Max knowing that they are playing a part in cutting down on waste and fighting poverty.”

The use of Social Plastic comes as part of a wide range of initiatives undertaken by IVC to reduce the environmental impact of its cushion vinyl floors. This includes the Recover recycling programme for installation waste and old floors, replacing fillers with egg shells, recycling plasticizer condensate and using wind, solar and water in production.
