TRAINING FITTER’S MATE

Six months after its launch, the FITA Digital App is helping floorlayers put their training into practice, explains Mark Graham, FITA & CFA training manager.

In the six months since its initial launch, the FITA Digital App has gone from strength to strength, becoming a valuable part of the FITA training experience providing delegates with ongoing support long after they leave the training centre. Imagine having a trainer alongside you on the first installation after completing a course, FITA Digital goes some way to providing that reassurance.

Originally developed as a digital ‘fitter’s mate’, the app was created to reinforce the practical skills and knowledge gained during in-person practical training at FITA. Everyone needs a reminder from time to time, and the FITA Digital app does just that. It helps FITA-trained floorlayers refresh their techniques, build confidence and access bite-sized videos whenever they need them, long after leaving FITA. Whether preparing for a job, solving a challenging installation or revisiting best practice, the app provides practical guidance when it matters most.

Since its introduction, the app has continued to evolve with additional resources being included as more training courses are incorporated into the FITA prospectus, adding a wealth of knowledge to an already extensive library of information. Delegates who complete further FITA courses automatically unlock new content, creating a personalised learning source that grows alongside their skills and experience.

At FITA, we believe that learning doesn’t stop when a course is completed. While practical, hands-on training remains at the heart of everything we do, ongoing access to high-quality learning resources helps delegates retain knowledge, maintain confidence and continue developing their skills in the workplace. Gone are the days of shuffling through bits of paper trying to find relevant information, FITA Digital supports delegates at the touch of a button, providing intuitive navigation and instant access to guidance whenever they need it most.

Whilst the free-to-access FITA YouTube videos are fantastic, the FITA Digital App provides a more tailored learning experience to complement each delegate’s training journey. This ensures floorlayers have quick access to relevant, trusted information that directly supports the techniques taught during their course at FITA.

How FITA Digital supports delegates after they leave training:

• Bite-sized training videos that recap key techniques covered during FITA courses.

• Course-specific content, ensuring delegates only access resources relevant to the training they have completed.

• Progressive learning, with additional content unlocked as more FITA courses are completed.

• 24/7 access to trusted guidance whenever it’s needed. • Exclusive content available only to FITA-trained delegates.

• Sponsored resources, including product guides, technical information and installation advice from FITA sponsors.

Over the past six months, FITA Digital has supported our commitment to combining traditional practical training with modern digital learning. It has provided delegates with an additional level of support that simply wasn’t available through traditional course notes, helping installers continue learning well beyond the classroom.

The app also plays an important role in supporting FITA apprentices throughout their training journey. Apprentices can use the FITA Digital app alongside their practical training, providing them with a valuable resource to revisit techniques, reinforce learning and build confidence as they develop their skills, both at the training centre and in the workplace. By having access to trusted guidance throughout their apprenticeship, they are supported beyond the classroom and encouraged to continue developing their knowledge as they progress towards becoming fully qualified floorlayers.
