VINYL & LVT RAISING THE BAR
Contractors turn to F. Ball’s System LVT range for a smooth and hassle-free flooring installation at a new bar in Bromsgrove.
Products from F. Ball’s System LVT range, including the company’s Stopgap 700 and Stopgap 1200 smoothing compounds and Styccobond F46 pressure sensitive adhesive, were chosen to meet high expectations for a contemporary flooring installation in a brand-new Bromsgrove bar.
Domestic and commercial floorcovering specialists Décor Design prepared subfloors over two levels of the bar, a total area of 160m2
, before installing vinyl floorcoverings using F. Ball’s Styccobond F46 pressure sensitive adhesive.
Subfloor moisture tests indicated that subfloor moisture levels were low enough to proceed with the installation without the requirement of a moisture management solution.
The flooring retailer began by overboarding the tongue and groove wood floor in the lower area of the bar with plywood. They then primed both the plywood and the concrete subfloor in the upper bar area with F. Ball’s P131 general-purpose primer.
F. Ball’s Stopgap 700 flexible smoothing compound was applied to create a perfectly smooth finish for the receipt of floorcoverings. The product is reinforced with tiny fibres that maintain the integrity of the smoothing compound when subject to subfloor movements that flexible subfloors, including wood, are prone to.
Stopgap 1200 was applied on the upper level. It is formulated so that it can be applied over minimal old adhesive residues, and
without the need to prime beforehand, eliminating the need for mechanical removal and saving time in these situations.
Contractors then used F. Ball’s Styccobond F46 pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive to install wood-effect vinyl planks in various formations in the front-of-house areas and bathrooms and also to adhere vinyl safety flooring behind the bar.
“F. Ball’s Stopgap 700 flexible
smoothing compound was applied to create a perfectly smooth finish for the receipt of floorcoverings.”
Styccobond F46 provides instant grab, preventing floorcoverings from sliding when placed, helping with the positioning of sections of flooring. It also has a long open time to prevent the risk of late placement.
Commenting on the work, Jason Pirie, director at Décor Design, said: “We took our time doing the work as it was for our own bar, and everything went smoothly. We only use F. Ball products because they’re good quality and you can rely on them. In this case, Styccobond F46 made installing the LVTs hassle free.”
