Building on more than 20 year of training heritage in the tiling industry, BAL offers several courses to tile fixers and contractors across the country.
With ever changing technologies, legislation and techniques, BAL believes it is important to provide everyone with the opportunity to expand and enhance their skills and knowledge.
BAL offers a full suite of training courses including a Five-day Wall and Floor Training Course for apprentices or beginners and several single-day masterclass courses providing practical and theoretical tiling training for fixers, apprentices, students, distributors and specifiers on a range of topics.
The manufacturer can now offer courses at both its North and South training academies in Stoke-on-Trent and Haverhill respectively.
Places are available to book now on the following courses, with Covid restrictions permitting:
Five-day Wall and Floor Tiling Course 25-29 October (North)
The aim of this course is to provide developing tilers or associated professionals with the most up-to-date knowledge of tiling techniques and the skills to apply them. The courses combine modern training techniques including presentations, workshops, demonstrations as well as direct hands-on practical training, and are held at BAL’s state-of-the-art Innovation and Technology Centre in Stoke-on-Trent.
The cost of the course is £300 including VAT. On completion of the course, delegates will receive a BAL Certificate of Attendance, literature and BAL product worth more than the cost of the course at average trade prices when course fee is paid.
ONE DAY MASTERCLASSES: Preparing and Tiling Timber Floors 30 November (South)
Demonstration and practical training on preparation/levelling, fixing and grouting to single-layer timber, plywood and floating timber floors.
Identification of Backgrounds, Preparation and BAL Tiling Systems 18 November (South), 9 December (North)
A comprehensive overview and hands-on training on identification of backgrounds, preparation and BAL Tiling systems including screeds, renders, waterproofing, backerboards and DPMs.
Installing External Paving Systems 19 August (South), 7 October (North), 21 October (South)
Practical guide to installing external paving systems from background prep, waterproofing, use of DPMs and BAL’s new External Tiling Systems for the installation of pavers, slabs and 20mm external porcelain.
Installing, Cutting Large Format Panels and Tiles with Sigma 30 September (North)

Get the lowdown on accurate cutting techniques, tools, safe handling and manoeuvring of slabs and correct installation on walls and floors with Sigma tools. BAL will give a rundown on background preparation and correct selection of adhesives and grouts in line with British Standards.

An essential guide on waterproofing/tanking wetrooms, fixing techniques, grouting and essential products. Practical and theoretical training.
Preparing and Tiling to Underfloor and Under Tile Heating with Warmup UK 2 September (North)
Practical and theoretical training masterclass with Warmup UK on preparing and tiling onto underfloor and under-tile heating systems. Includes an overview of common systems, preparation, installation, tiling techniques and grouting.
Each one-day masterclass is FREE to YOU+BAL members*, or £50 for non-members or additional courses.
Each delegate will receive the full-day training, plus training certification, BAL goody bag and £75 of free BAL products at average trade prices.
