Milliken’s carpet tile and plank collections have contributed to the sense of wellbeing at the status of largest WELL Certified Gold ‘New and Existing

Deloitte LLP is a professional services firm with 18,000 employees around the UK and Switzerland. The company’s new London headquarters was designed by ID:SR and features ‘Dissident 2.0’, ‘Colour Compositions’ and ‘Clerkenwell’ carpet tile and plank collections, designed and manufactured by Milliken in the UK and installed by Loughton Contracts.

At time of certification in 2018, 1 New Street Square was the largest WELL Certified Gold ‘New and Existing Interiors’ in the world; had achieved BREEAM Outstanding for its exemplar environmental design, and with a score of 94% attained the highest BREEAM 2014 RFO score ever; and was the first office fit-out to attain both BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Certified Gold worldwide.

A large, 14-storey, multi-use office, 1 New Street Square needed to contain 2,000 core and 1,500 flexible working positions. The brief called for the consolidation of all client spaces across the campus within a range of formal, informal and innovative collaboration spaces. The building was also to provide a number of facilities to help support the wider London campus, including two cafes, restaurants, and a mix of amenity and wellness spaces. Not only this, but the layout needed to encourage movement and interaction with the addition of 13 new accommodation stairs and two pedestrian bridges linked to 2 New Street Square.

All construction materials, furniture and equipment used were selected to enhance air quality by designing out sources of air pollution. Throughout the building 6,300 plants were installed
