ALWAYS CONSIDER
THE CONDITIONS It may not feel like summer as we know it, but as we enter the warmer months, bear in mind that hotter conditions often mean drying times for smoothing compounds can speed up significantly. There are a couple of things worth remembering to ensure you don’t run into difficulties.
Firstly, the workability of the smoothing compound will start to reduce if conditions rise to over 20°C, and there will be less time available to spike roller. Avoid missing this window by scheduling the task for earlier in the day, when temperatures are likely to be cooler.
Consider, too, how you store the products before use. Try to avoid leaving liquids in hot vans for extended periods, and don’t leave bags of products in storage where they’re likely to absorb heat. If you need more information on how to store products, check the technical data sheets (TDS).
