JOHN LORD GROUP MOVES INTO NEW

£3M PREMISES Industrial and commercial flooring specialist John Lord Holdings has relocated its group headquarters and manufacturing to a brand-new 25000ft² factory in south Bury.

John L Lord & Son Ltd, the group founding company, has operated at its north Bury site since 1901 when it was set up by John Lloyd Lord as a manufacturer and installer of chemical and abrasion resistant floor finishes and vessel linings. Today, the company employs the latest technology to address the same markets, now transferring its manufacturing and contracting business to the new site.

The existing site will be repurposed to provide soft floorcoverings for the commercial, public and residential sectors.

PALACE CHEMICALS UP FOR HAT-TRICK

Stephen Lord, Group Chairman and great- grandson of the founder said: “As the fifth generation joins the business, we have ambitious plans for the future. This move puts us in a great position to go to the next level as an expanding group with a diversified platform of activities”

Driven by sustained on-going growth, the new factory is significantly larger than the previous facility, enabling all manufacturing operations to be carried out under one roof. It will provide significantly more office space for streamlined administration, plus easy access from the motorway network.

International Centre for Life entered in the Best Commercial Project Small (up to 250m²) category.

Charles Clapham, managing director of Palace Chemicals, said: “The TTA awards really are a prestigious initiative that recognises the premium of work in the tiling industry through members of The Tiling Association. To potentially be in line for not one, not two, but three awards is outstanding.

“We have stuck to our side of the bargain - providing top quality products to enable only the best results in construction and DIY. We just need a little help to push us

Peter Kelsey, Designer Contracts managing director said: “We are delighted to have promoted two exceptional colleagues who have worked hard within the business. It’s people like Stacey and Brian who contribute towards our company’s success and our continued growth during what has been an uncertain time for many – congratulations to them both!”

Stacey said: “I am thrilled to have been promoted to HR and health and safety director! Last year was a big year for our HR department as we implemented a brand-new HR computer system to ensure we’re constantly improving our

John L Lord & Son Ltd.’s Managing Director Mark Hadfield said: “We are committed to continuing to grow our business in Bury. procedures, so it is an exciting time for myself and my colleagues.

Brian said: “After 20 years at my previous place of work, I decided to change direction in my career, which led me to Designer Contracts where I had heard so many positive things from ex-colleagues who had moved here. My first position was in the Thames Valley region as senior contracts manager, progressing to area manager, and eventually moving to the Southern region, before being promoted to regional manager. I think it’s safe to say I made the right decision to take the plunge and change direction.”
