YEAR FOR THE ACADEMY With the Academy for Excellence in Flooring having undertaken a refurbishment of training bays, demonstration and breakout areas; the first course goers of 2018 are to enjoy the very best training floor training facilities in the UK.

With 2017 seeing an increase in trainees at the Academy over the previous year, it is clear that installers recognise the courses at the Academy as among the best currently available in the UK. Through the Master Installer scheme, all qualified installers are able to offer an additional lifetime workmanship warranty on all Quick-Step floor installations.

Lee Thomspon, Technical Manager, Academy for Excellence in Flooring commented: “As we start 2018 with some fresh new training bays and a demo area that’s right up-to-date, we’re really excited about the 12 months

COORDINATION WITHOUT COMPROMISE

FROM QUADRANT With broadloom carpet, carpet tiles, luxury vinyl tiles and woven vinyl, Quadrant’s multi-disciplinary approach to flooring is a real benefit to commercial space designers. Designers and specifiers can create dynamic layouts, changing material for appropriate function or purely for aesthetics; resulting in a beautifully coordinated look that retains design integrity.

The British company has developed a formidable collection of design-centric flooring including the Salto range of loose-lay vinyl and Ntgrate woven vinyl. These can be matched with broadloom carpet and carpet tiles, including popular ranges such as Balance and Elements, for a layout that works to the specific needs of the area.

James Scully, Managing Director, said: “Floor layouts are certainly becoming more complex, but designers do not want to abandon an aesthetic purely because of functional need. We recognise this and have developed our portfolio accordingly, so that design integrity can be retained everywhere from boardroom to breakout and kitchen.”

Palettes are designed to work together, grey oak and concrete looks in Salto loose lay vinyl teamed with grey carpet tiles with colour accents that can be perfectly coordinated in luxurious deep pile broadloom for breakout areas; all on a backdrop of textural Ntgrate woven vinyl. The results are sophisticated floor layouts that avoid obvious colour blocking and clashes; instead bring a subtle and mature effect to zoning through complementing colours, shifts in texture and changing materials.

ahead. We held a special Black Friday event that secured 77 new bookings for the beginning of the year, so we’re already racing ahead. The new facilities will ensure that installers are greeted with the very best amenities.”

As the last collection proved a great success, the Academy’s clothing range will also be expanded for 2018 with new items of practical, quality workwear that help Master Installers to look professional on site and promote their high-skill level. The centre is also developing a mobile app that will allow warranty registrations ‘on the fly’ and help installers deliver better service to their customers.

With 2018 already looking to be another great year for the skills centre, industry professionals looking for theoretical and practical training on wood, laminate and LVT floors should contact the Academy for Excellence in Flooring without delay.

As well as coordinated colours, Quadrant products share the same quality ethos – carpet tiles are made in Britain in a 12th gauge quality while Ntgrate woven vinyl is made in Belgium using glass fibre-reinforced PVC – so that designers can be confident of high performance levels, durability and ease of maintenance regardless of product type.
