Hello and welcome to the April issue of Tomorrow’s Contract Floors.
As I write this, it feels like we’ve already had our five-days of summer. The current cold snap means that despite the recent hike in energy costs, it has been impossible not to reach for the thermostat. With business owners and consumers alike asking themselves how they can save money on their bills, it’s only fitting that in this issue we take a look at underfloor heating.
In his article on page 28, ThermoSphere’s Chris Hedges reveals the real cost of running an electric UFH system. He shares some expert advice on the most cost- effective insulation to use and provides some handy calculations to estimate daily and weekly running costs.
On page 32, Paul Woolvine at IOBAC turns our attention to the role that far infrared underfloor heating can play in making buildings more energy and cost efficient. Not only this but its ease of installation is beneficial to flooring contractors and building owners alike, he argues.
