Each issue, we ask a flooring industry professional 10 Questions. This month, we chatted to Keir Tweddle MD of Stauf Adhesive UK Ltd.


What’s the best advice you could give to


someone new coming into


the industry? Change is hard, price can at times be more important than quality but, be honest and the market is big enough for us all.

What was your first job? A glass collector at 14 years


old and not long after that, I was working behind the bar and trying to look a few years older.


How did you get into the industry?


I was brought into a business to promote a new product for the flooring industry. At the time the company wanted someone with no experience, so they had more of an open mind to new products. It was an eye opener.


What has been your proudest moment?


Without doubt, becoming the MD of Stauf Adhesive UK Ltd. and helping to open the UK storage and office facilities. There are definitely exciting times ahead.


If you could hire any one person to be part of your


team, who would it be and why? A Dutch gentleman named Jan Willem, he is a fantastic craftsmen with an amazing knowledge of products. Luckily for Stauf he is part of our Dutch team but I would love for him to spend more time in the UK.

If you could be any character from film or


TV who would you be? Superman: from as young as I can remember I have always wanted to be superman! The Rock has pushed him close at times.


What do you think are the positive and negative


aspects of the flooring trade? A positive would be the continued growth of the market and the ongoing commitment to making products greener. I hope that this continues in the UK now that we have left the EU.

could it be improved? I would say the one thing missing is patience, if we all had that little more and didn’t push the boundaries with products then I’m sure it would be better for both manufactures and trade alike. I know time is a big issue but surely, we could plan to allow a little more drying time.

If you weren’t in flooring, what career


would you choose? Years ago, I’d have said automotive but now it would have to be the fitness industry either as a personal trainer or a gym owner.
