EDITOR’S VOICE
Hello and welcome to the April issue of Tomorrow’s Contract Floors.
As the country gets ready for the next stage of Covid restrictions lifting, retailers are sure to be counting down the days until they can open their doors again. The retail sector has undoubtedly been the hardest hit industry throughout the pandemic with department stores and large chains leaving the high streets in their droves. It has been said by retail experts that Covid has forced a decade’s worth of change within a year as more and more consumers have moved to making purchases online.
Whether or not shoppers return to the high street heavily relies on the experience they receive in store. It’s therefore crucial for retailers to differentiate themselves from their competition, considering that all-important customer journey and using their bricks-and-mortar stores to underline their brand.
In this issue, we feature a fantastic case study from Forbo whose flooring solutions have been used at the Bank of Scotland’s flagship store in Glasgow. A variety of floorcoverings have been carefully selected to help establish the brand’s identity and reflect its Scottish heritage through the use of colour.
And while the retail landscape has vastly changed, so too has the world of work. As employees start to make a tentative return to the office, they have safety firmly in mind. In our Spotlight feature, we hear from Tarkett on the importance of improving indoor air quality to enhance employee wellbeing.
