Run by its members for its members, the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association represents manufacturers and distributors of cleaning and hygiene products. Its Accreditation Schemes guarantee ‘what’s on the box is what’s in the box’. Every member has signed its Code of Practice, which incorporates the Competition & Markets Authority’s Green Claims Code.
Standards are in the DNA of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA), which established its first Accreditation Scheme in 1997. Today it maintains standards, guaranteeing ‘what’s on the box is what’s in the box’. Buyers of cleaning and hygiene products can trust the CHSA mark, recognising it as a guarantee of quality.
The CHSA’s Accreditation Schemes are for manufacturers of paper-based products, plastic-based products, cotton- based products, cleaning chemicals, and for distributors of cleaning and hygiene products.
An Independent Inspector ensures the integrity of the Schemes. They check the labels contain the required information and that the product is as stated on the label. Depending on the product, this involves checking the sheet count, width, duty, weight, marketing claims and or performance of the product. They also assess the member’s quality assurance procedures. For distributors, they confirm if product is from a CHSA Accredited Manufacturer and where it’s not, that it conforms to the specification of the relevant scheme.
Committed to upholding the integrity of the Schemes, the CHSA’s governing Council will expel any Scheme member who, despite being offered the guidance required to correct issues, consistently fails to conform to the relevant Scheme Standard.
Every CHSA member has signed the Association’s Code of Practice, which includes the Competition & Markets Authority’s Green Claims Code. Amongst other stipulations, it requires members to:
• Conduct business in an open, honest, fair and proper manner and in accordance with the laws, rules and regulations of the UK and EU.
• Ensure all public statements made by and on behalf of the Member are decent, honest and truthful.
• Ensure no false or exaggerated claims are made verbally, in literature, electronically or in any other way.
• Hold and provide evidence on request for product and service claims.
