Thoughtlessly discarded chewing gum is not only a nuisance to the general public, it is a huge headache to the authorities and FM companies who have to remove it from the public domain.
OspreyDeepclean has developed the three-battery operated, dry steam-based gum removal machines as part of its GumBusters brand. The GB1 and the GB Eco have been innovatively designed and manufactured to be cordless, quiet and simple to operate. These revolutionary machines bust gum one deposit at a time, and cost as little as £2.50 per hour to operate, including consumables.
Thomas Stuecken, Chairman of OspreyDeepclean who manufacture the units, said: “Acting on the demands of the industry, the next logical step was cable-free and generator-free steam production.
“Steam is injected with the detergent as it is released from the cleaning head, and the gum is instantly heated by the steam to 100°C. On chewing gum, the effect is dramatic: this combination of heat and biodegradable detergent removes the stickiness from the gum, which is simultaneously dissolved.
“Steam also keeps water wastage to a minimum. One steam cleaning unit will use only a maximum of 6L of water/chemical mixture per day, enough to clean 300m2 of chewing gum-covered pavement.
“The GB1 operates for up to six hours on a single battery charge, the GB Eco and GB Eco Li for up to 2.5 hours. Both are silent in operation, meaning they can be used in daytime and in both populated areas with minimal disruption.”
