A market leader in providing corporate, commercial cleaning in London, Principle Cleaning was established in 1989 and is now an employee-owned trust – with an annual turnover of £100m+, employing over 2,800 people. Its clients feature some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks, including The Shard and 30 St Mary Axe.

Principle’s Vertical division was set up in 2013 with a team of four, and it now employs over 100 highly trained window cleaning professionals, who are responsible for cleaning some of London’s most complex landmark buildings.

Technology and innovation have played a huge part in the Vertical operation’s success. One such innovation is PCS Hub, a secure, cloud-based platform which operates in real time. Clients have a bespoke portal with a dashboard-style interface designed to empower quick and informed decision making, which is accessible from smartphones, tablets, PCs and laptops.

Within PCS Hub also sits Principle’s 3D Mapping technology, which details data and performance metrics for multiple buildings and large estates, including how windows are cleaned and what cleaning standards are being achieved. This allows for individual window mapping and also facilitates defect reporting.

Principle’s unique Drop Marking technology, which is used in the day-to-day activities of the Vertical team, is also part of PCS Hub, and accurately records how long each drop takes, providing a real-time record of the progress of scheduled window cleaning, which in turn feeds into 3D Mapping, offering a fully closed loop of data-driven decision making.

The use of real-time data allows users to generate reports and access the most up-to-date information on various aspects of their operations such as resource utilisation, financial information, project status, compliance status and more. This data can help drive performance, create added value, deliver investments in service delivery, monitor trends and design training sessions.

Enabling clients to see the scheduling of any periodic cleaning and window cleaning tasks is particularly beneficial, demonstrating a greater degree of transparency and ensuring clients receive the services they are paying for. Principle’s PCS Hub, Drop Marking and 3D Mapping technology is unique, providing significant levels of transparency previously unseen in the cleaning industry.
