The ChangingWorkplace

Cleaning and Facilities Management professionals are hungry for data-backed insights, says Rubbermaid Commercial Products.

Just weeks after launching its Changing Workplaces survey – the first stage in Rubbermaid Commercial Products’ (RCP) research program investigating the complex changes the pandemic has prompted in workplaces and facilities across Europe – it is clear that cleaning professionals are hungry to be part of an initiative that helps them take control in a rapidly changing landscape.

Responses from the cleaning and facilities management sectors are pouring in from across Europe. Early data shows that the pandemic has affected business activities for 96% of UK respondents. Confidence is high, however, when it comes to predicting when businesses will return to operating at pre- pandemic levels. The level of response reveals a belief that data-led insights will support a confident approach to hand hygiene, cleaning and waste management, which are now in the spotlight like never before.

The survey asks questions such as: how have facility users’ demands changed and where do organisations need to raise the bar around cleaning and hygiene in a post COVID-19 world?

Responses to date are shining a light on training being key to an elevated approach, with the first tranche of completed surveys showing that 85% of UK respondents have upskilled staff with additional training in hand hygiene, cleaning and waste management.

Paul Jakeway, Head of Marketing – EMEA at RCP, said: ‘’Initial data is revealing some very clear trends and behaviours, especially when it comes to subjects like budgets and training on hand hygiene and cleaning. Another emerging theme is cleaning and facilities management professionals’ concern about the challenges they will face

as employees return to the workplace, when demand and footfall increases, alongside expectations.

‘’We’d urge people to keep up the momentum and take a few minutes out of your day to take part. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete, but the information we collect will help us provide deep benefits for you and the sector well into the future. The more respondents, the more detailed and granular the insights we can share.

‘’Once we’ve analysed the full survey results, RCP will deliver a comprehensive review of how the world of work will operate at a heightened level of consciousness about hand hygiene, cleaning and waste management. This review will enable us to share focused, targeted solutions, training, education and support to cleaning professionals.’’

More reasons to take part

As well as making a valuable contribution to their industry, facilitating sector benchmarking and cross-sector learning, as a thank you for taking part, respondents will be entered into a prize draw when they complete the survey.

There are £1500 in Amazon vouchers to be won, along with £3000 of RCP products and specialist workplace consultations, across a series of top prizes and runner up bundles.

The Changing Workplaces survey is open to respondents across Europe. It is relevant to cleaning managers and teams across any organisation. COVID-19 has prompted changes across sectors as diverse as education, logistics, warehousing, hospitality and office-based businesses, so RCP is calling for respondents across all markets and facility types.
