HEALTHCARE & HOSPITAL HYGIENE

check those. So we can track all the processes, and off the back of that we can print off a set of reports so when the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) come in and ask to see our results, it’s instant access. There’s no digging around for reports or finding out who was doing what when – all those types of things go out of the window because it’s simply controlled.

It’s a way of streamlining the process, but more importantly, what it does is make the life for the cleaner a lot easier.

What has the response from the cleaners been?

Are they fans of this new, streamlined process?

MC

One of the benefits of this system, as a result of

capturing those processes, is that the cleaner isn’t getting the blame anymore if something isn’t right. Because beforehand, you’d often find that that people would say ‘the cleaner didn’t do this’. For example, in one company’s rules, it says

It’s a way of streamlining the process, but more importantly, what it does is make the life for the cleaner a lot easier.

‘you must not move somebody’s paperwork or PC on their desk, you should just clean around it’, but they then complained that we didn’t clean under it. Using our technology, they can take pictures to say ‘there’s a PC in the way, we haven’t touched it, that’s why we didn’t clean there!’ So with those types of advantages, what we’ve started to find is that communication improves.

And the cleaners found that it meant improvements elsewhere too. Often you’d see things like changes in chemicals, changes in equipment – one good example was the change of a mop supplier and all of a sudden the time that it took to mop the floor then took longer. Everyone blamed the cleaners for being lazy, but it had nothing to do with the cleaners. It was because the purchasing department had bought an inferior product that couldn’t do the job, and it took the cleaners a lot longer to use it as a result. So it’s little things like that that come out of the technologies used, because they’re able to photograph it, capture it and put it to use.

And is there much training required for using this

piece of kit? MC

There is minimal training needed, and the beauty of

the way that we operate and what we do is that everybody’s processes have slight tweaks. No two buildings will operate in exactly the same way or have the same processes, but our system is really simple, and can be tailored to suit specific requirements. For each contract, we’ll write the system, control the processes, and if you need to change the staff operating procedures, it’s dead easy. And the end result is that we can tell hospitals that there is a way to increase production and operation capabilities, which will then help generate more revenue for the hospital, simply by being prepared to look at an alternative cleaning source.
