Introducing Tree Campus K-12 Connect your students to nature through trees and earn recognition for your school
Beginning with the 2019/2020 school year, all K-12 schools can earn recognition by meeting four goals:
• Establish a Tree Campus Team • Create an Education Plan • Lead a Hands-On Experience • Hold an Arbor Day Observance
Tree Campus K-12 provides access to resources and a simple framework for using campus and community trees as a learning tool. If your school already has a “green team,” celebrates Arbor Day, or covers tree-centric curriculum at any level, you are already on the path to earning recognition.
“Prior to participating in Tree Campus K–12, students were unaware of the value urban trees provide to the overall environment. Instructionally, it was a fantastic opportunity to incorporate STEM skills for an authentic scientific purpose.”
– Science Teacher, Palo Verde Magnet High School, AZ
“Students have helped to create plans that revolve around the goals of Tree Campus K–12, and it’s because they understand caring for trees and planting a tree can better our environment.”
– Agriculture Teacher, Freeport High School, IL
