WSMA Student Composition Project Update
Submissions for the 2016 WSMA Student Composition Project are in the process of being reviewed. Awards will be given in nine categories with winners announced in June and an awards ceremony will be held in August. Students will also receive written critiques of his/her submission focusing on strengths already exhibited as well as suggestions for improvement in future compositional projects.
The WSMA Student Composition Project is open to middle school students (grades 5 through 8) and high school students (grades 9 through 12) and encourages the creative/artistic abilities of students. Categories include instrumental solo, instrumental ensemble, instrumental jazz, collaborative solo, piano solo, vocal solo, vocal ensemble, vocal jazz and col- laborative ensemble.

x WSMA Music Showcases Held at the Wisconsin State Fair
Plans are underway for the WSMA World Music Showcase held in conjunction with the 2016 Wisconsin State Fair. Bring your group and be a part of summer at the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis.
The WSMA World Music Showcase is held on the World Café Stage August 12 and open to ensembles of all types as a celebration of world music. Recent performances have included handbell ensembles, string quartets, Celtic ensembles, jazz ensembles, flute choirs and more. Each ensemble selected to perform will receive free admission to the State Fair for students and directors as well as a performance time on the World Café Stage. Groups have already accepted this opportunity but there is always room for more!
