x St. Croix Falls
Named Best Community and School District for Music Ed
St. Croix Falls School District is a 2016 recipient of National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) award: “Best Com- munities and School Districts for Music Education.” With this distinction, students from the school district entered in the John Lennon Education Tour Bus Con- test. Their one-minute video submission showed why music is so great in St. Croix Falls. The award included a two-day resi- dency with the John Lennon Education Tour Bus sponsored by Yoko Ono and many technology companies throughout the nation. During the residency, students produced an original music video using the latest technological resources in music production. The residency also featured a nationally broadcast music forum from the school, based on the theme “Music for Life.” This two-hour forum featured per- forming ensembles, music teachers from the school district, community members, city and school administrators and local/ state politicians.
