ULTRA-STERILE TABLE INTRODUCED
UK-headquartered hygienic furniture specialist Teknomek has launched its first ultra-sterile Hygienox table range. Created specifically for A & B Grade cleanroom environments where compliance with ISO 14644 is critical, the newly developed Hygienox tables are manufactured from 316L grade stainless steel as standard, offering customers the ultimate in future-proof, hygienic equipment. Meeting ISO 14644 standards
now means using higher concentrations of chlorine and increased use of hydrogen peroxide. Hygienox tables have a range of intelligent design and specification features to mitigate the risk of rouging or tiger stripes while reducing contamination risk and supporting improved clean down productivity.
Powerful automation solution
Beckman Coulter Life Sciences has introduced an automated solution for the gruelling process of manual gating flow cytometry data, with no programming skills required. This novel feature is part of the new Cytobank v10 platform upgrade. Inconsistencies among operators have been identified as one of the top contributors to variability in flow cytometry data analysis. Cytobank Automatic gating can address this issue and reduce variability compared
to manual gating. Also, depending on the complexity of the gating strategy, Cytobank automatic gating can take up to 75% less time to complete compared with manual gating of the full dataset for population identification. “When customers talk we listen,
and we’ve heard a lot about the reproducibility crisis in biomedical research, along with the struggles that come with inconsistencies from manual gating,” said the company’s Nicole Weit. “Manually gating files is tedious, especially for large and complex panels. Lab staff can end up adjusting gates for hours or even days. We’ve been on a mission to provide a solution to these challenges, so that customers can level up their flow cytometry data analysis without having to be programmers.”

Real-time control of libraries
BioAscent, a provider of integrated drug discovery services, has introduced a new web-based interface for customers using its compound management services. The Compound Connect interface provides BioAscent customers with a secure online inventory, ordering and tracking system for compound libraries managed by the firm at its facility in Newhouse, UK. The company manages over two million compounds in both liquid and solid formats, for over 70 customers
ranging from big pharma to virtual biotechs and charity and academic consortia mainly in North America and Europe. Compound Connect both streamlines the ordering and tracking process – by eliminating possible miscommunications and delays due to different time zones – and enables customers to order solutions and assay-ready plates directly from their inventories. The new interface is a fully auditable order fulfilment system that is compatible with existing customer informatics systems. By providing a robust, online tracking system, it is particularly attractive to small and medium-sized biotechs, which do not have the advanced compound management resources of big pharma and often need to ship compounds between a network of CROs and other partners.
IMAGING MASS MICROSCOPE
Shimadzu has launched its new iMScope QT imaging mass microscope. It combines a mass spectrometer with a built-in optical microscope and features advanced analysis speed and imaging capabilities. Its makers believe it to be the only instrument that can obtain mass spectral data associated with morphological information. The iMScope QT can cover
the entire workflow, from sample preparation to sample and data analysis. It visualises target compound distributions in microscopic regions, using both microscope images and compound distribution information from the MS.
