Multiparameter measurement at the highest level

Refillable gas canisters cut waste and lower carbon footprint Air Products has unveiled its Experis®

critical sectors with a practical, eco-friendly alternative to traditional single-use canisters.

The new refillable canisters are designed to be returned, refilled, and reused, significantly reducing waste and the energy required to recycle aluminium. Available in 58 L and 110 L sizes, Experis®

Eco canisters

are compatible with existing gas detection, emissions testing, and environmental monitoring equipment, offering the same high performance as single-use canisters - but with a smaller environmental footprint.

Craig Hunt, Technology and Marketing Director at Air Products, said: “Refilling aluminium canisters uses far less energy than recycling and helps lower carbon emissions across the supply chain. Experis® more sustainable.”

The MultiLab® Pro IDS from Xylem’s WTW brand sets

a new benchmark in multiparameter measurement, enabling the simultaneous monitoring of up to four critical parameters - pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and ORP. Designed for laboratories that demand precision and efficiency, it is the ideal solution for complex workflows in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food analysis, and environmental monitoring.

With two or four galvanically isolated measurement channels and support for both wired and wireless IDS (Intelligent Digital Sensor) technology, the MultiLab Pro IDS delivers exceptional flexibility. The intuitive 7-inch high-resolution touchscreen enhances user experience, making complex measurements simple and accessible.

A standout feature is its integrated GxP mode, tailored for use in regulated environments. It includes a tamper- proof audit trail, comprehensive user and password management and audit-compliant data archiving in accordance with FDA reg. 21 CFR Part 11.

For added convenience, the optional Trial Mode allows labs to evaluate all GxP features risk-free; particularly valuable during system qualification or validation.

The MultiLab Pro IDS also supports seamless LIMS integration, making it a future-ready component of digital laboratory infrastructure. Metadata is captured in a structured format and can be exported in PDF/A, JSON, or CSV, ensuring interoperability with existing data systems.

The MultiLab Pro IDS delivers advanced technology and ease of use for laboratories that need to measure multiple parameters simultaneously and without compromise.

The return process is simple and safe. Customers use a specially designed keyway tool to depressurise canisters before sending them back via a prepaid courier. Returned canisters are scanned, credited to the customer’s account, then inspected, relabelled, and refilled at Air Products’ Worcester production site - creating a fully circular system.

*Average Pass-on rate = 3.2 Micro spargers enhance bioreactor performance

Biotech Fluidics has introduced a line of advanced micro spargers designed to improve gas transfer and mass transfer efficiency (kLa) in bioreactors, helping laboratories and process developers achieve higher yields with lower gas consumption.

Print, Online andDigital Media combined to reach 500,000 readers*

Micro spargers work by dispersing gases such as air, oxygen, or carbon dioxide into liquids through a fine network of pores, creating a stream of exceptionally small bubbles. This increases the gas–liquid contact area, resulting in more efficient aeration and faster mass transfer - key factors for optimising fermentation and cell culture processes.

Developed in collaboration with Mott Corporation, Biotech Fluidics’ micro spargers deliver substantial performance gains, optimising mass transfer rates by 100–400% compared with standard drilled-pipe or dip-tube designs. This improvement supports stronger cell growth, more effective gas dissolution, and better mixing efficiency.

The range includes porous metal sparger tips for both benchtop and pilot- scale reactors, available in media grades from 2 µm to 15 µm. Each design can be tailored to match the bubble size and gas–liquid dynamics required for a specific medium or organism, ensuring reliable, reproducible performance in any bioreactor setup.

Keeping samples safe, identifiable, and fully traceable is critical in biobanks, compound libraries, and high-density cryogenic storage. The FluidX™ Tri-Coded Sample Tubes from Azenta Life Sciences are engineered to meet these demands, combining robust security with advanced tracking capabilities for modern laboratories.

Unlike internal-thread designs, the externally threaded tubes cannot be overtightened and allow a higher working volume, while ensuring a tight, reliable seal to safeguard sample integrity. Proprietary tri-coding technology provides a permanent link between sample and data: each tube features a laser-etched 2D code on the base, a 1D linear barcode, and a human-readable number on the side. High-contrast codes remain scannable even under frost or condensation, supporting easy identification without removing tubes from racks.
