Space-saving shelving for sterile environments Teknomek has expanded its offering with the
addition of the Hupfer Easy Rider shelving system - an innovative solution designed to significantly increase storage capacity in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, and sterile services (SSD) sectors.
Storage space is often at a premium in these industries, with up to 50% of room area typically lost to fixed walkways between shelving units. The Easy Rider system overcomes this challenge by replacing static shelving layouts with mobile units mounted on smooth-glide, ball-bearing runners. Staff can simply slide units aside to access the desired section, effectively removing the need for permanent aisles and enabling storage capacity to be doubled within the same footprint.
Teknomek - now the UK distributor for Hupfer equipment - highlights the system’s ease of use and ergonomic design. The shelves move effortlessly with minimal physical exertion, helping prevent strain and making daily operations safer and more efficient.
Highly adaptable, the Easy Rider shelving system offers a choice of wire or solid shelving, with easily adjustable heights to accommodate different stock profiles. It can also be fitted with baskets or trays for storing sterilised instruments - ideal for facilities managing high-throughput autoclave workflows. Its modular, scalable nature means it can be expanded or reconfigured as needs evolve, with full compatibility for different tray and basket formats.
Engineered with hygiene and durability in mind, the Easy Rider is manufactured from 304-grade stainless steel, ensuring resistance to corrosion and suitability for the most demanding cleaning protocols. Racks can be fully dismantled for deep cleans, eliminating the risk of hidden bacterial build-up. Installation is simple and hygienic - no drilling into the floor is required, preventing the creation of dirt traps, and the system can be relocated or reinstalled elsewhere without the need for building works.
Michelle Locke, Product and Marketing Manager at Teknomek, commented: ”Storage space is a constant challenge in SSD, healthcare and pharmaceutical environments - particularly as operations grow or adapt. The Easy Rider system offers an effective, hygienic way to double capacity without major installation work. Its cleanability, flexibility, and ergonomic design make it ideally suited to environments where hygiene and efficiency must go hand-in-hand.”
