Laboratory Products 29 Fluorescent dyes expand immunology panels
Bio-Rad Laboratories has unveiled the first in a fresh series of fluorescent dyes designed specifically for spectral flow cytometry, giving immunologists greater freedom when building multicolour panels.
The launch begins with StarBright UltraViolet700 (SBUV700), a dye optimised for use with spectral instruments. Over the coming months, additional dyes will follow, all tailored to deliver distinctive spectral signatures and strong emission peaks that enhance multiplexing potential.
To support immunology workflows, Bio-Rad has conjugated the new dyes to highly validated antibodies against 46 relevant markers - including 13 that are newly available in the StarBright collection. These additions open opportunities for deeper immune profiling and the interrogation of complex cell populations.
StarBright dyes are known for their high brightness and narrow excitation/emission profiles, reducing spectral overlap while improving resolution. The new range maintains compatibility across instruments, from Bio-Rad’s ZE5 Cell Analyzer to most other flow cytometers and cell sorters, enabling seamless integration into both existing and exploratory panel designs.
Hilary Mavor, Marketing Director in Bio-Rad’s Life Science Group, commented: “Researchers want the ability to build larger, more sophisticated multicolour panels. By extending our StarBright portfolio, we’re equipping immunologists with tools that not only expand choice but also simplify the design of complex spectral panels.”
With more than 30 dyes now available, Bio-Rad continues to broaden its fluorescent dye offering, directly supporting immunology research at the single-cell level.

Columns for proven polar compound analysis
For over two decades, The Cogent Diamond Hydride™ TYPE-C™ HPLC Columns have been a trusted solution for scientists demanding precision, versatility, and consistency in their separations. These columns are built on a silica surface that ensures precise retention of polar compounds, making them ideal for analysing metabolites, amino acids, highly polar compounds as well as complex polar biological compounds found in plasma, urine, and saliva.
What truly distinguishes Diamond Hydride™ columns is their compatibility with Aqueous Normal Phase (ANP) chromatography, a powerful technique specifically suited for the retention and separation of highly polar compounds. By bridging the gap between reversed-phase and HILIC methods, ANP enables greater flexibility and efficiency in LCMS workflows—making these columns an ideal choice for metabolomics, pharmaceutical, and bioanalytical research.
Backed by Microsolv’s renowned technical support and comprehensive resources, method development and troubleshooting are streamlined and efficient.
Whether you’re working with amino acids, organic acids, carbohydrates, or peptides, Diamond Hydride™ TYPE-C™ Columns offer the selectivity, stability, and reliability that experienced chromatographers rely on.

ADVERTORIAL Advanced fully-fused tablet dissolution flow cells
Monolithic all-quartz construction unlocks capabilities impossible with jacketed cells: full immersion cleaning and wide range temperature applications across the entire dissolution flow cell portfolio. Where the market offers only selective availability, Starna Scientific delivers comprehensive coverage.
All-quartz construction enables full cell immersion in acids and solvents for enhanced cleaning whilst supporting extreme temperature applications beyond jacketed cell limitations. This dual capability expands both cleaning protocols and testing conditions previously unavailable, including autoclavable sterilisation.
Delivering these expanded capabilities across every dissolution geometry draws on six decades of quartz manufacturing expertise and advanced heat-fusion technology, whilst continuing our established jacketed cell production.
Direct heat-fusion creates single-piece, solid quartz bodies without metal components. This design ensures leak-proof performance whilst delivering optical clarity, chemical inertness, and temperature tolerance. Precision-cut internal quartz threads enable secure tubing connections.
Where others provide limited variants, every application now has an all-quartz solution. Precision quartz threading delivers consistent performance across all geometries, eliminating protocol variations.
Each cell includes unique serialisation and verified path lengths for traceability. Interference spectrometry confirms short path length accuracy to ±0.002 mm. Pressure testing exceeding 5 bar validates integrity under demanding conditions.
Optimised geometry reduces carry-over and bubble retention through profiled, laminar flow characteristics.
USP Apparatus 4-compatible portfolio: long, wide, medium, and sub-micro geometries, plus short-path variants. Standard M6 fittings and Luer-lock adapters are available, with 1/4” 28 TPI threads and custom configurations supplied to order. No geometry compromises.
Key specifications include: All-quartz construction; Full immersion capability in acids/solvents; Wide range temperature applications: low to high; Acid/solvent resistant (except HF); Autoclavable when required; Short path lengths verified to ±0.002 mm accuracy; Pressure tested beyond 5 bar.
