38 Portable / Field Testing Accredited Calibration of Field Strength Meters
Narda Safety Test Solutions GmbH (Germany) has been awarded accreditation for electric and magnetic field strengths by DAkkS, the national accreditation body of the Federal Republic of Germany. This enables Narda to offer accredited, internationally recognised calibration of field strength meters to their customers.
The calibration laboratory of Narda Safety Test Solutions GmbH in Pfullingen is accredited for electric field strengths in the frequency range 9 kHz to 18 GHz. The calibration range covers up to 300 V/m depending on the frequency, and extends down to 2 V/m – i.e. field strengths that are relevant when it comes to measurements for human safety and environmental field exposure.
The accreditation certificate confirms that the laboratory meets the “general requirements of competence for test and calibration laboratories” according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005. The calibration method itself is described in IEEE Std 1309-2005, which is the most comprehensive and therefore globally recognised “Standard for Calibration of Electromagnetic Field Sensors and Probes”.
The calibration certificate gives the customer details of the measured values and their associated measurement uncertainties, as well as
additional information about the calibration that was performed. Customers also benefit from the Mutual Recognition Agreement of ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) which ensures that the accredited calibration certificates from Narda's laboratory are recognised worldwide by leading institutions.
As well as accredited calibration, Narda Safety Test Solutions will continue to offer their factory calibration service. All calibration services can also be combined with maintenance and adjustment. The company can also carry out rapid repairs to Narda equipment because as the manufacturer it has both the know-how and the original spare parts for the product.

TSI Incorporated (Singapore), manufacturer of precision measurement instrumentation, have introduced an expanded capability line of Hydronic Manometer Models HM675 and HM685, for use to balance commercial hydronic heating and cooling systems, check pump performance and to set balancing valves.
Both models feature inputs for two temperature probes to maximise efficiency. Model HM685 performs onboard universal flow and btu/hr calculations and allows for 4X more storage capacity for increased recall and downloading capability.
Backed by proven TSI technology, the recently updated meters replace the previous TSI-Alnor Models HM670 and HM680. They have maintained their same robust, splash-proof design as well as their ability to
simultaneously measure and display differential, high side and low side pressure—without having to change the hose connections or instrument valve settings. Likewise, the backlit display accommodates use in low- light areas while four alkaline or NiMH rechargeable batteries supply long-life power to get the job done.
“By increasing the capabilities of the new hydronic manometers, you can expect to be more efficient on the job site,” says Jim Schumacher, TSI Product Specialist. “The added benefits of these instruments are significant when considering the time you can save through their easy setup and operation.”

Sub-ppm Oil in Water Measurements in Less Than 15 Minutes with New Portable IR Analyser
The new InfraCal 2 Field Portable IR Analyser can measure down to 0.1 ppm oil in water accurately, on-site and in less than 15 minutes. It is the newest addition to the Wilks (USA) line of rugged, easy-to-use oil in water/soil analysers and provides added sensitivity and features for today’s most challenging environmental applications. InfraCal 2 is ideal for non- technical users and will provide years of dependable, maintenance-free operation.
The InfraCal 2 IR Analysers combine improved electronics which significantly increase signal- to-noise ratio for greater performance with a touch screen intuitive display that allows for a multitude of new options and features – including multiple calibrations, internal data logging and data transfer capabilities, alarm functions to ensure results are acceptable, and security/password settings to avoid unauthorised changes. The result is a compact, rugged package, weighing less than 6 lbs., with no moving parts and the low maintenance qualities found in other Wilks analysers.
InfraCal 2 provides improved sensitivity and detection limits for a variety of on-site oil in water measurements such as sub-ppm detection levels of oil in wastewater going into inland waterways, off-shore produced water discharges, and cleaning efficiency of metal parts. Models are available for use with infrared transparent solvents, as well as hexane, for the extraction process. While designed for field applications, InfraCal 2 is equally at home in the analytical laboratory and will provide quantitative measurements easily, routinely and economically.
The new InfraCal 2 Analysers make it economical and easier than ever to move repetitive measurements from the lab to the actual analysis site where they can be routinely handled by non-technical personnel. On-site measurements using the InfraCal 2 Analyser take less than 15 minutes and eliminate the wait for off-site lab results which can take hours or days to receive.

Multiplex Industrial Gas System Installed in Saudi Arabian Aluminium Plant
Unisearch Associates (Canada) recently delivered 8 of their 12-channel LasIR Multiplex Systems to Maaden Aluminium Company, based in Saudi Arabia.
These 8 analyser controllers will allow the plant to measure Hydrogen Fluoride at 76 different locations in the plant, still allowing room for 20 additional channels as spare. Previously Maaden’s technicians had needed 76 analysers to achieve this.
The Unisearch system was chosen not only because of the financial saving made – but also because of its robust design, ideal for an aluminium plant located in a desert, and the strength and reliability of its analyses. The laser is far more powerful than many other units available to the market, this allows accurate measurements to be even made over very long paths (over 1 Km) or in short paths in presence of significant dust loading, 15g/m3 maintenance.
and over. In addition, these units require no calibration and minimal email:
