34 Gas Detection Expansion of Fixed Gas Detection Transmitters

Bacharach (USA) is pleased to announce the expansion of their GDX-350 Series of fixed gas detection transmitters. Designed to withstand the harsh environments common in industrial applications, the GDX-350 Industrial Transmitters offer an expanded range of sensors for the detection of toxic, combustible and asphyxiate gases in an intrinsically-safe or explosion-proof housing. The GDX-350 transmitters are full featured transmitters designed for integration into any existing system or as a complete solution for new installations. Placing the transmitters in locations where leaks can occur allows for quick detection and response to the smallest breach, protecting human life as well as equipment and property. The GDX-350 can be used with the GDA-400 or GDA-1600 Controllers to provide simultaneous display and alarm functions for up to 16 monitors.

The GDX-350 series features a large LCD graphic display that shows gas concentrations and engineering units, along with the flexibility to show the last 30 minutes worth of historical data. Utilising the display panel, users can also navigate through the menu to change alarm set points, instrument configurations, or enter into maintenance mode for sensor calibration. Standard LED alarm indicators accompany the display, indicating when low and high alarm conditions are met. An optional relay board is available to provide three, 5-AMP relays that can be used to drive audible/visual alarms, or activate exhaust fans.

Pre-calibrated, user-replaceable “smart-sensors” are available for the GDX-350 transmitters which minimise downtime, reduce costs and simplify basic instrument maintenance by eliminating the need for technicians to perform gas calibrations in the field.

Product feature include: NDIR, Catalytic and Electrochemical sensors available; Electrochemical sensors for detecting CO, O2, H2S, SO2, NO2, H2, PH3 & NH3; Infrared (IR) sensor for detecting CO2; Combustible gas detection with catalytic bead or IR sensor technology; 2 or 3-wire 4-20 mA interface; Graphic LCD for real time monitoring of concentrations; Relay outputs (optional); Optional Modbus RTU interface; Optional wireless data interface; 30 minute onboard data logger; Easy maintenance w/pre-calibrated replacement sensors; Intrinsically safe 2-wire versions; Explosion-proof rated 3-wire versions.

Monitor Offers Leading Features

New Guide to Gas Detection Published

A new independent Guide to Gas Detection has been published by CoGDEM (The Council of Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring) to provide industry professionals with a complete reference document on the accurate, reliable measurement of gas concentrations in both process control and occupational safety applications.

This book provides the latest information on UK, EU and global regulations, guidance on flammable, toxic and asphyxiant gases, workplace safety, gas detection requirements, sensor technologies, calibration and performance evaluation.

“There is an emphasis on providing practical guidance throughout this book. For example, a quick reference guide explains the key issues in gas detection system selection, this book will be essential reading for anyone with a professional interest in gas detection.”

Gas Measurement Instruments (UK), an IST company, have introduced their new maintenance- free PS1 Series single gas monitor designed with industry leading features. Both lightweight and easy to use, the device offers sensor options for monitoring hydrogen sulphide, oxygen, carbon monoxide, or sulphur dioxide.

The self-monitoring device features on/off capability and field adjustable alarm settings. During hazardous conditions users are alerted via three alarm functions: vibration, red flashing LEDs and audible buzzer. The instrument is fitted with a robust stainless steel alligator clip that attaches easily onto a collar or vest, putting the instrument near the breathing zone for maximum protection and safety.

Also available is the new PS1 auto bump and calibration station that provides a fast visual indication that an instrument is calibrated correctly, thereby improving compliance, record keeping, efficiency, and accuracy. Easy to operate, simply place the PS1 into the cradle and close the door. Calibration is complete in 90 seconds and bump testing in 60 seconds. The unit requires minimal effort by users.
