Oliver Grievson receives the Outstanding Contribution to Industry Award at WWEM
Oliver Grievson from Z-Tech Control Systems has been presented with the Outstanding Contribution Award at the WWEM Water, Wastewater and Environmental Monitoring Conference and exhibition. Marcus Pattison organiser of the WWEM event presented the award with Kriss Akabusi MBE to Oliver at the WWEM awards dinner stated “This is not a Lifetime achievement award as Oliver is far too young for that and he still has so much energy, drive and enthusiasm for the water industry which we hope to benefit from for many years to come. This award is for some of the achievements that he has been recognised for and for many more that have gone unrecognised or recorded!
“Oliver currently holds 5 Fellowships which include CIWEM,IES, InstMC, the IET and the IWA, he is a Chartered Engineer and
Chartered Water & Environmental Manager he is Chair of the IWA Digital Water Programme and Chair of SWIG, he is also Vice Chair of the CIWEM Professional Standards Committee and Vice Chair of Wastewater Education 501 (C)3, he is and has been a mentor to many water apprentices, an author, an editor, a facilitator and is the voice of industry disseminating news through his WIPAC Newsletter and hugely popular WIPAC LinkedIn group.
“Well done Oliver Grievson we look forward to hearing and seeing more of your achievements at the next WWEM event which will be held at the NEC on the 9th & 10thOctober 2024.”

Predicted growth of 1,140% in roaming IoT Connections by 2027, as Operator Network Strategies Disrupt Market

The first public charging and hydrogen filling station in the Nordic region for heavy goods traffic opened
A new Juniper Research study has found that the global amount of data generated by roaming IoT connections will increase from 86 petabytes in 2022 to 1,100 petabytes by 2027; representing enough data to stream 165 million hours of 4K video from platforms such as Netflix.
This 1,140% growth will be driven by the termination of 3G networks; necessitating the adoption of low-power cellular networks. The research found that low-power wide-area networks provide a low-cost alternative to established operator-led cellular networks, such as 4G and 5G; driving the growth of IoT roaming connections through low-power, high-penetration coverage.
Roaming IoT connections use wireless services outside of their registered operator’s network; accessing connectivity from other cellular providers.
5G Connectivity Restricted to High-value IoT Roaming Use Cases
The research noted that only 2% of total IoT roaming connections will rely on 5G networks by 2027, due to the low-power consumption and infrequent data transmission exhibited by the majority of devices. It found that only use cases dependent on low-latency and high-speed data downloads, such as autonomous vehicles and connected factories, will justify enterprise investment in 5G connectivity.

The gates are now open for Circle K’s charging and hydrogen filling station in the Port of Gothenburg. The station is the first of its kind in the Nordic region and has been built from a heavy trucks perspective, with the intention of facilitating the green transition for heavy goods traffic in and around the Port of Gothenburg.
The station will form a new hub of the port for facilitating the transition from fossil to electricity and alternative fuels for heavy goods traffic. Initially there will be six public charging stations for electrically powered heavy trucks, with a capacity of up to 360 kW per charging bay. Having several charging bays at the same location means not only increased capacity, but also shorter waiting times. Within one year there will be hydrogen available at the station, a real fuel of the future that only emits heat and water.
“The station’s opening at exactly the right place, in terms of both timing and location. Serial production of electric heavy goods vehicles is up and running, and vehicles have been ordered by actors with a lot of traffic at the port. By the end of the year, electric heavy trucks will be a common sight in the port, and it will just keep on growing from there. So, this station comes at just the right time – the transition is taking place here and now, and as far as the port is concerned we’re delighted to be able to work with Circle K to provide the necessary infrastructure,” says Elvir Dzanic, CEO at the Gothenburg Port Authority.
“The station is a magnificent flagship and a real milestone along the way to a future of greener transport operations. We’re incredibly happy and proud to be leading the way on this journey and of what we’ve achieved, such as the collaboration with the port. The station’s strategic location and smart structure mean that we’re well- prepared for the market’s future needs for different fuels. This station has the potential to become an important hub in the transition,” says Lennart Olsson, the person responsible for heavy goods traffic charging at Circle K.
