Water / Wastewater 15 Intelligent multi-channel controller provides wastewater analysis total system solution
Plant engineers responsible for municipal or industrial wastewater treatment operations will fi nd the versatile LQ800 Multi-Channel Controller from Electro-Chemical Devices offers them a complete process measurement analytical platform suitable for treatment of municipal wastewater or industrial effl uent to ensure water quality.
A municipal water disinfection system requiring multiple sensors in one tank can now be easily and cost-effectively designed to monitor data from over 50 ECD sensors/transmitters. The eight-channel intelligent LQ800 Controller accepts the ECD fi eld sensor data, processes it and eliminates the need for multiple discrete measurement transmitters to save time and money.
Compatible with all ECD S80 Series Intelligent Sensors, the LQ800 Controller monitors pH, ORP, Ammonium, Dissolved Oxygen, Nitrate, Total Suspended Solids (TSS)/Turbidity, Free Chlorine or Total Chlorine. ECD’s input level and/or fl ow sensors can be added as well. It also can accommodate third- party device sensors via 4-20 mA inputs.
In addition, the LQ800 Controller also supports ECD S80 Sensors that monitor conductivity, resistivity and dissolved oxygen (DO). Selective ion sensors are available to measure: ammonium, bromide, cadmium, calcium, chloride, copper, cyanide, fl uoride, lead, nitrate, nitrite, potassium, silver, sodium and sulphide.
With its advanced design, the LQ800 Multi-Channel Controller digitally communicates with any ECD intelligent sensor, automatically confi guring the controller’s menus and display screens to the measured parameter. Two-way communication between the sensors and controller provides measurement data for plant process control equipment and systems.
The type of sensor, identity and serial number are stored in the sensor’s memory along with calibration registers. Sensors are calibrated at the factory--so they are ready to use when connected, are waterproof and submersible with all internal components epoxy encapsulated inside the housing and have various process fi ttings and confi gurations.
For large or complex processes, the LQ800 Multi-Channel Controller can be ganged with multiple units or connected to other ECD on-line analysers. Available output options include: eight 4-20 mA outputs, eight confi gurable relays (for alarm, activated timers, control, and fault), and Ethernet communication. Data logging capability is available as well
The LQ800 Multi-Channel Controller features a large easily viewable colour touchscreen display, which is sized at 4.6 (w) -x- 3.5 (h) inches (120 -x- 90 millimetres). The display and interface can be web-enabled with remote monitoring and activation with personal handheld devices and computers with access via the internet.
The LQ800 Multi-Channel Controller’s highly intuitive menu-driven navigation is accomplished using the large touchscreen display. The primary menu selections are the multi-channel main display, single channel detail screen, calibration menu, confi guration menu, info screens and simulate menu.
Other display screen capabilities include the hold function, graphical display style, back light and contrast adjustments, labels/tags for naming the transmitter, password protection and a factory default reset. Output screens include setting the digital communications output, setting the 4-20 mA ranges and fault settings, and confi guring the alarm relays.
While ECD’s S80 Intelligent Sensors come pre-calibrated from the factory, fi eld calibration adjustments are easily performed with the controller. The LQ800 Multi-Channel Controller’s calibration menu includes an auto calibrate function, a two-point calibration, a standardise function and a single point calibration. The controller’s manual calibration function allows previously determined offset and slope values to be entered manually.
The rugged LQ800 Multi-Channel Controller is a 100/240 VAC powered device. It is constructed with heavy duty materials suitable for rugged environment requirements and carries a NEMA 4X/ IP65 rating for water resistance. It is suitable for use in temperatures from 15 to130°F (-10 to 55°C).
The compact LQ800 Multi-Channel Controller goes almost anywhere and measures only 17 (w) -x- 11.7 (h) -x- 9 (d) inches (43 (w) -x- 30 (h) -x- 23 (d) centimetres). It weighs just 20 pounds (9 kilograms), is wall mounted (standard) with optional handrail or stand mounting available and an optional sunshield is available too for high-intensity light locations.
New PFAS CRMs speed up calibration curve development and 2nd source needs

Restek’s four new multicomponent PFAS calibration certifi ed reference materials (CRMs) feature the most frequently analysed PFAS compounds, letting you select the formulation that is best suited to the ISO, EU, EN, EPA, DIN, ASTM, or in-house method you use. Additionally, two of these mixes are specifi cally formulated with the compounds and concentration for EPA 533 and EPA 537.1 drinking water methods, helping you easily comply with method requirements to increase lab throughput.
As multi-compound mixes, these new reference standards help labs reduce complexity, minimising the risk of errors when making calibration mixes. And the highly stable 1 or 2 μg/mL concentrations are ideal for creating multipoint (5-point minimum suggested) calibration curves for LC analysis.

All four standards are certifi ed reference materials (CRMs), manufactured and QC-tested in ISO-accredited labs. Verifi ed composition and stability ensure long-lasting shelf life, and two independently produced lots from one source helps simplify procurement while satisfying your ISO and quality program requirements.

Imagine your spring or groundwater got contaminated by heavy rains – and you didn‘t notice! A Swiss municipality experienced exactly this and hence discovered the advantage of rapid on-site microbiological monitoring.
The authorities of an Alpine municipality suspected that recent heavy rains had contaminated their natural spring water with bacteria and had water samples analysed in a laboratory. Only a few days later was it confi rmed that the tap water was no longer drinkable.
A faster solution was needed to detect water contamination and the local authority decided for BactoSense, which provides reliable microbiological results in only 20 minutes.
Why monitor your water quality online with BactoSense? Because it allows you to:
• Get a precise and accurate water analysis in just 20 minutes • Continuously monitor the microbiology in your drinking water • Optimise your water treatment process • Prevent bacterial contamination in your water system • Enjoy a user interface that can be operated by anyone without technical expertise
Would you like to test BactoSense?
Our water monitoring experts will provide you with the best advice for your water network.
